Unemployment is still above 8 percent, job gains aren't even keeping up with population growth, the economy is barely moving forward. And yet, according to most polls, the Romney-Ryan ticket is falling further and further behind. How can this be?
Because Republicans are failing the central test of electability. Instead of putting together the largest possible coalition of voters, they're relying largely on one slice of America -- middle-aged white men -- and alienating just about everyone else.
Start with Hispanics, whose electoral heft keeps growing as they become an ever-larger portion of the electorate. Hispanics now favor President Obama over Romney by a larger margin than they did six months ago.
Why? In February's Republican primary debate, Romney dubbed Arizona's controversial immigration policy, which authorized police to demand proof of citizenship from anyone who looks Hispanic, a "model law" for the rest of the nation.
Romney then attacked GOP rival Rick Perry, the governor of Texas, for supporting in-state tuition at the University of Texas for children of undocumented immigrants. And Romney advocates what he calls "self-deportation" -- making life so difficult for undocumented immigrants and their families that they choose to leave.
As if all this weren't enough, the GOP has been pushing voter ID laws all over America...

So many people are signing up to say exactly what you are. Wow, I guess I better start re-thinking my Romney vote.

Is this malignant dwarf STILL around? Why does anyone care what this loser thinks?

Because “most polls” have now moved from oversampling Democrats by 5-6 points to oversampling them by 9, 10, 11 and even 13 points.
That’s a good one.
We're not exactly dealing with the brain trust of the outfit here, that'd be Joe Biden.
Cheers!
About relying on one slice, since FDR Democrats have lived off what’s known as Identity Politics. Since they assume everyone does what they do (like how they immediately assumed teapartiers were “astroturf” because tgey pay people to protest), it seems Republicans are bad at it. They’re not; they’re just mostly playing a different game.
Not that Pubs don’t hunt their identity groups. Everyone’s after the holy grail of the noddle class. There’s been a whole lot of talk about inroads into hispanics. Only they don’t do it as exclusively.
Noting the the minimal stature of the future Labor Secretary the morning after the 1992 Inaugural Ball, Rush commented that they should have strapped a platter of hors d'oeuvres onto his head and had him circulate amongst the guests.
To answer your question, “Conservatives” did not Vote for Romney in the Primaries. Republicans Voted for Romney and he is the 2012 Republican Presidential Nominee.
If you are asking why “Conservatives” will support Romney now, the obvious answer is the alternative choice is Pharaoh Obama. Four more years of the Commie Bastard and the Republic will never recover. The Supreme Court will be lost for Generations and the Welfare State that we have all railed against our entire lives will be the new norm.
There will be no magic Conservative groundswell in 2016 should Obama win Reelection as some here predict. If we can't beat someone like Obama now, welcome to the new and improved USSA...
Seems to me to being the whole democrat thought style: Whistle past the graveyard. Do nothing to cut the entitlements, create more government and protect our power while the makers pay and the takers play.
