Except for his unfortunate go along to get along support of TARP, bailouts, stimulus spending and the increased credit limit, etc, Ryan is a pretty good choice. Probably the best choice of the RINOS that were on Romney's short list. I support Ryan for the vice presidency. Wish he were at the top of the ticket, though.
But I still cannot and will not support the grand father of ObamaCare. Romney still loves and brags about his bastard brainchild, RomneyCare, even today when he knows what an anti-liberty socialist POS it is.
And the fact that he advocated that abortion should be safe and legal in America for over three decades of his adult lifetime and even advocated that Roe v Wade should be supported and sustained as settled law precludes any consideration whatsoever by this pro-life Christian for Myth Romney for the presidency.
And the fact that he boasted that he would be better for "gay rights" than Ted Kennedy, and proved it just increases my resistance.
That, and his penchant for gun control, his continuing support for global warming, gays in the scouts, gays in the military, and his record of appointing liberal judges makes it all but impossible for me to support him.
Lastly, we're having a bit of changeover on our moderator staff. At least two moderators resigned this afternoon after I flatly refused to rein in a so-called anti-Mormon "bigot" on FR. Well, if being in opposition to false prophets and false prophecy makes a Christian believer a bigot, then I guess I'm a bigot. I've posted before that I flat do not believe that the Book of Mormon is the true word of God. Nor do I believe that Joseph Smith was a prophet of God. The Christian bible warns us to be weary of false prophets and that I am. Romney being the presumptive Republican nominee does not change that fact.
That is perhaps the primary reason I don’t participate in organized religion. It is filled with people all too willing to do anything but live up to the ideals they espouse.
Little wonder they will vote for anything that makes them feel better about themselves. And entirely predictable. The word of god only matters when it supports what they want it to.
You are watching our republic die... FR is just a microcosm of that event.

Obaama hates this country and its values.
Romney, even though he espouses certain positions which are hateful to God and Man (support for homosexual rights, abortion), will not knowingly seek to destroy the country.
And he is not enough of a Marxist / narcissist to rule by fiat and executive order should his policy agendas be defeated in the legislature.
Full Disclosure: Look to the Senate -- we need to maneuver Romney into nominating a closeted Constitutionalist to the Supreme Court, Rulers of These United Metrosexual States (SCROTUMS).
Cheers!
I think it’s a good time for it. I know a lot of people’s eyes have been opened of late, they’ve been losing their businesses, homes, and futures due to the out of control liberals and all the illegals in that state. The liberals have destroyed the personal lives of many people I know who have been life long democrats. I do believe their new misfortunes (since the last couple of years especially) are waking them up.
“Romney, even though he espouses certain positions which are hateful to God and Man (support for homosexual rights, abortion), will not knowingly seek to destroy the country.”
I’d say those issues have done a lot to destroy the country actually. And he knowingly supports both.
Anyone who welcomes him shares in his wicked work". 2 John 1:10,11
OK, but where does that forbid voting for them to be President against a homosexual Muslim Marxist who is hell-bent on destroying the country and all vestiges of Freedom?
Cheers!
Absolutely.
Is that you God? If not, then piss off.
Romney’s already managed to pick a better candidate for the Republican ticket than the Republican primary voters were able to. Which is ironic to say the least. Judging by this we can trust Romney more than we can trust the average Republican voter. Which is scary to say the least.
Member since 1997 here.
The old Jim Robinson would have thrown the new Jim Robinson off the board once upon a time, yet nowadays vice versa it appears.
Fascinating and depressing.

Mark 8:36 (KJV)
For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?
Sorry, I do not support this guy:

Sorry, Norm, my post should have been directed to grey_whiskers. Close to bedtime for me.
Since we’re speculating here, As a 98’er, I think it more likely he’d have tossed anyone supporting a liberal. Seems to me he’s mellowed if anything.
And the only depressing thing I find is that so many here are drinking the kool aid and ‘evolving’ in their ...ahem...’conservatism’.
J/K (sort of)
I was confused by your "two year absence" so checked my posting history. You are looking at articles posted which I do rarely. There was no two year gap in my commenting history, but there are a few months here and there where I posted more often on my state forum instead. I almost stopped entirely during the primaries when everyone fractured over our best conservative candidates and they kept going down in flames :-( The result, Mitt Romney.... yech.
No, I am not a Mormon. I am blessed to be able to call myself a born again Christian. I did meet two Mormons who came to my door about 15 years ago. I thanked them for sincerely caring about the state of my soul, told them it was utterly impossible that I would ever believe their faith and sent them on their way.
Yeah, 19 seats in two election rounds. NEVER GUNNA HAPPEN.
Do you have ANY idea how hard it is to unseat an incumbant Senator? Particularly a Democrat in a Blue State? Any idea, AT ALL?
It is much easier to get a REPUBLICAN President to sign bills into law from a REPUBLICAN Congress.
I was talking to a friend earlier today who brought up an interesting and thought provoking idea. To paraphrase, Ryan's pick doesn't pass the smell test. Romney is a proven elitist, has never come out in support of conservatives much less Tea Party conservatives. Few Tea Party or conservative leaders have endorsed him. Why would Romney have picked such an outspoken Tea Party conservative as VP? Was it to energize the conservatives/Tea Party voters? Perhaps.
But Romney's a puppet of the GOP-e. Boehner is part of that cadre. By selecting Ryan, the GOP-e has removed the heavy hitting Tea Party chair from the Budget Committee and the powerful Ways and Means committee. Boehner, as House Speaker, is who picks those in the select committees (i.e., the Budget Committee and the Ways and Means). And now Ryan can both be silenced in the House and replaced on committes with a RINO, taking away Tea Party leadership there.
Quite possible a reason.
Thank you Christie!
He supports, them, yes, but he does not intend to FORCE them by extra-Constitutional means.
Cheers!
So tonight, Sarah Palin has come out in full force for Romney/Ryan.
Isn’t Sarah Palin now a “G*dless whore” for speaking up for the election of the Mormon Bishop?
Seems to me she has effectively lost all credibility and will stand before G*d to her peril in hell.
