Except for his unfortunate go along to get along support of TARP, bailouts, stimulus spending and the increased credit limit, etc, Ryan is a pretty good choice. Probably the best choice of the RINOS that were on Romney's short list. I support Ryan for the vice presidency. Wish he were at the top of the ticket, though.
But I still cannot and will not support the grand father of ObamaCare. Romney still loves and brags about his bastard brainchild, RomneyCare, even today when he knows what an anti-liberty socialist POS it is.
And the fact that he advocated that abortion should be safe and legal in America for over three decades of his adult lifetime and even advocated that Roe v Wade should be supported and sustained as settled law precludes any consideration whatsoever by this pro-life Christian for Myth Romney for the presidency.
And the fact that he boasted that he would be better for "gay rights" than Ted Kennedy, and proved it just increases my resistance.
That, and his penchant for gun control, his continuing support for global warming, gays in the scouts, gays in the military, and his record of appointing liberal judges makes it all but impossible for me to support him.
Lastly, we're having a bit of changeover on our moderator staff. At least two moderators resigned this afternoon after I flatly refused to rein in a so-called anti-Mormon "bigot" on FR. Well, if being in opposition to false prophets and false prophecy makes a Christian believer a bigot, then I guess I'm a bigot. I've posted before that I flat do not believe that the Book of Mormon is the true word of God. Nor do I believe that Joseph Smith was a prophet of God. The Christian bible warns us to be weary of false prophets and that I am. Romney being the presumptive Republican nominee does not change that fact.
As far as I can tell, the 2nd is doomed as long as the GOP continues to nominate Catholics to the court.
It was Bush’s “brilliant” pick of Roberts who came out of left field and upheld Obamacare. It was Scalia this week who said that the RKBA can be legislated away.
So I really don’t see any downside to staying home and washing one’s hands of the Republican party, nor any upside to voting for these clowns.
“As I expected. If you are a conservative and either don’t vote (I didn’t even consider that option, surely you aren’t that nuts) or vote for a third party nobody, you are helping Obama. That holds true even if you are from a state like Kansas (my state). Your vote counts, and a vote for anyone other than the one man who can unseat the maniac in the White House is sheer lunacy. Rock on, dude.”
Yeah, because what we really need is a maniac in the White House with an (R) by his name. To be as big a liar as Mitt Romney, you have to have a serious god-complex. I think we’re better off with the collapse happening under Obama than it happening under Mittens. Lesser of two evils. I won’t be voting for either stooge.
“His use of executive orders when he doesn’t get his way will only become more extreme since the Constitution has been discarded. America is finished if he is not removed.
You seriously think that Romney will do the same?”
Yep, quick and even easier, all cronys on board.
Just like how quick 08 Bailout and TARP was under Bush II. 2014 can’t come quickly enough for Extortion-Care, Massachusetts Style.
Who is this "GOP" we should ask? Mitt Romney won millions of votes in the GOP primaries a few months ago - isn't that how our system is supposed to work?
I am however anti-mormonism.
I hope you can see the difference........
Well said gator. I also said, just a few days ago that i
may or may not vote, depending on how things looked by
election day. Now,as in 2008, i am able to vote for a 50%
awesome ticket.
For those still struggling, and JimRob who seems quite
steadfast, i would paraphrase Golda Mier.
You will have to decide if you love your country more that you hate Mitt Romney.
When i punch that hole, i will be visualizing two faces.
Those of Paul Ryan and my sweet grandson Caleb.
LOL
Have you seen this yet? It is great!
My father was only a kid when he was sent to Auschwitz. The things he had to endure and tolerate to survive, were so painfully etched in his memory, he shook in his sleep most of his life. It was as “normal” to him as it is for me to snore- and I snore.
As children, we were warned not to ask him about those times and we did not until he was much older and we feared we would never truly understand who our father was, before he was gone.
My sister was the first to broach the topic with him and what followed was a relief and release inside him that sustained him for many more years. Out of honor for my father’s memory, I will not share the personal choices and horrors he endured in his own private battle simply to survive. Suffice to say, you cannot imagine.
As I have written in the past few weeks, I have been in Israel and then in London for part of the Olympics. At Yad Vashem, I visited the Hall of Remembrance where I found the only memorial for my grandparents, my uncles and aunt. It was a stunning, personal moment and I stood there thanking G*d for these people who had imprinted my Dad with nothing more than a will to live.
Leaving there, we traveled to London to see one of my father’s direct decedents win a medal for the United States of America. In the interests of privacy, I leave it at that.
The central theme in my father’s memories of those days was simple. Sometimes you are forced to do anything to make it through another night with the hope that the next day might be better.
My Dad loved this country and he instilled in his children that same passion. We have subsequently passed that love to our children and now my grandchildren.
I respect whatever decisions you all make about who you will vote for and who you support. That is each man’s choice.
However, my fear is that this country that I love, that saved my Dad and gave our family a chance to rebuild, will not survive another four years with the current President in office. Romney was not my first choice. Not even remotely.
But like my Dad, we don’t always get the things we want and sometimes we have to do the best we can with what we have to make it through a night and hope for another day. I would respectfully suggest that those of you who are not voting for Romney because he’s not exactly what you want, have not ever been through periods of true starvation where you will do anything to fill the pain and agony caused by emptiness and G*d bless you for it. Men should not have to endure those things.
All I know for certain? Had my Dad not made the choices he made to survive, I would not have seen his great-grandchild achieve something that young boys mind could not have dreamed about not all that long ago.
Do what your conscience dictates- but don’t let personal feelings stand in the way for what may be the country’s last chance to make it through this night and live for a better day.
As far as “Mormons”..... I have known all my life the results of being hated for my religion and like most others- I am what I am because I was born who I was born. I will not judge the religion of others I do not know, unless they use their religion as a weapon. I do not believe Mormons have done such.
Thank you Jim for the right to speak and G*d guide us all and save this great nation.
I will second that one all the way even though I'm not yet a grandfather.!
While Romney was hardly my first or second choice elections are what they are.Little has "changed"except for for far more corruption due to the current regime.
From my standpoint it's no good enough to sit back adn take cheap shots at the guy who won without a viable alternative. I can't ignore the destruction going on by the regime. For me I would need either a good alternative or support our candidate all the way.
That's what I am doing. For me to do nothing is really not an option.
I’m voting to save the privates of Ryan!
“Give truth a break.”
Helpful hint: Romney is the only candidate capable of defeating Obama. You can rant and rave, fume and pout, hold your breath but in the end you have a choice between the current President and Governor Romney.
Try to accept it. Or continue to foolishly waste your time with post after post re-fighting the primary.
Well, I agree with you, Jim. You are one of my heroes for standing up for your beliefs. I am sorry about your mods. I hope things work out. I will add that for me, by Ryan affirming to Romney shows that Ryan thinks the Obama Romneycare and the affirmation to gay marriage would be policies I would say (How wonderful of a guy he is). I don’t get it. I think some of the people who post here are Bushbots. I use to be one until I woke up. I had many an argument that Bush was the man and then he shows himself as this compassionate liberal; big spender; making deals with Kennedy. Romney is no Bush. He will go go even further; we’re already have seen it. Ryan was used as a cloak. Romney is already distancing himself from Ryan’s budget. Same ole thing going on. The problem is Romney, not conservatism. I am not voting for Romney after he did the socialist health care and gave gay behavior a special right in his state. I will look in my life and see that I can live with myself. I am not supporting the problem.
Then Ping him. Coward.
I am in the process of moving to New Hampshire,a state that's very much a swing state. In 2000 algore came within something like 1000 votes of carrying NH.If he had carried it it would be "former President algore" today.So,yes...
