Except for his unfortunate go along to get along support of TARP, bailouts, stimulus spending and the increased credit limit, etc, Ryan is a pretty good choice. Probably the best choice of the RINOS that were on Romney's short list. I support Ryan for the vice presidency. Wish he were at the top of the ticket, though.
But I still cannot and will not support the grand father of ObamaCare. Romney still loves and brags about his bastard brainchild, RomneyCare, even today when he knows what an anti-liberty socialist POS it is.
And the fact that he advocated that abortion should be safe and legal in America for over three decades of his adult lifetime and even advocated that Roe v Wade should be supported and sustained as settled law precludes any consideration whatsoever by this pro-life Christian for Myth Romney for the presidency.
And the fact that he boasted that he would be better for "gay rights" than Ted Kennedy, and proved it just increases my resistance.
That, and his penchant for gun control, his continuing support for global warming, gays in the scouts, gays in the military, and his record of appointing liberal judges makes it all but impossible for me to support him.
Lastly, we're having a bit of changeover on our moderator staff. At least two moderators resigned this afternoon after I flatly refused to rein in a so-called anti-Mormon "bigot" on FR. Well, if being in opposition to false prophets and false prophecy makes a Christian believer a bigot, then I guess I'm a bigot. I've posted before that I flat do not believe that the Book of Mormon is the true word of God. Nor do I believe that Joseph Smith was a prophet of God. The Christian bible warns us to be weary of false prophets and that I am. Romney being the presumptive Republican nominee does not change that fact.

Oh, lord... I have explained that and explained that and EXPLAINED that to the harpies of the Sister-Wife Squadron, hereabouts; and, to date, not ONE of them has done anything more than blink, dully and stupidly, at the (evidently) unimaginable concept of being in a state where one's vote DOES. NOT. MATTER, due to said location's electoral color being solidly and irrevocably opposite in nature.
You'll be preaching to the intellectual equivalent of a rock quarry on this one. Trust me. ;)
Well, that is it, isnt it? This our last chance to change things with the ballot box. Next stop will be the cartridge box.
Yes, Mormons are a cult. But we are a christian nation and the church, who would have never have contemplated a Mormon 30 years ago...have done just that. So, if our hard core social republican friends are upset, then they should call for a revival. Not a vote for Obama by not voting for Romney.
So , what is it? Do we try to repair our nation through the ballot box or cartridge box? I'm okay with either but I have children and I dont want them to have to go through a civil war.
Thank you Jim for being a voice of reason. Even here on FR there are way too many romneybots. The way I see it, if you live in a battleground state and REALLY feel that you have to vote for Mittens, go ahead. But if you live in a solid red or blue state why not send a message to the GOP - NO MORE RINOS. Go to Virgil Goode’s website and tell me if you see ONE thing among his platform that differs with the vast majority of conservatives here on Free Republic.
Ryan is going to be that disinterested? He’s going to tell the Tea Party to snub Romney if they must but please at least go vote for someone who might be able to impeach Barack Obama?
I'm not losing any sleep over helping one pro-gay, pro-abortion candidate by not voting for a RINO who's pro-gay and pro-abortion, especially when he never earned or deserved my vote to begin with.
First of all, good for you, Jim! 2008 was the last time I’ll ever vote for the lessor of two evils.
For all of you who think Romney is better than obama and worry about what obama will do in a second term, why not ask the GOP why the hell they allow him to do what he does.
Repogirl, you sound like a liberal with all your name calling. Chill out.
Finally, they’re all the same. There’s not a republican in office who would not have accepted Romney’s offer.
As I expected. If you are a conservative and either don't vote (I didn't even consider that option, surely you aren't that nuts) or vote for a third party nobody, you are helping Obama. That holds true even if you are from a state like Kansas (my state). Your vote counts, and a vote for anyone other than the one man who can unseat the maniac in the White House is sheer lunacy. Rock on, dude.
Obama MUST go.

No.
Goode hails from deep Democrat roots. This is not impossible to evolve out of, but like Ronald Reagan the evolution usually happens into the GOP, not a third party.
And as for the “bots” talk it is equally foolish whether you say romneybot or obamabot.
I think both political parties want a compliant, dutiful population that knows its place and doesn’t cause any trouble for the powers that be.
For example, the “conservative” John Roberts didn’t have any problem selling the Constitution and the American people down the river.
Why should I expect anything better from Romney, a man with hardly any conservative credentials?
And yes I am fully aware of how difficult it is to sell this patently sensible proposal.
So True!!!
“Ryan could never be more effective than where he is now. Romney takes a true conservative out of a position of power and sends him to foreign funerals for the next four years.”
I think that was Romney’s goal - get Ryan out of the way so he (Romney) can do what he wants with the economy. Ryan is way too conservative and serious about the economy for Romney to have him in the House.
Jim, I tried to find a way to resign and leave, but could not.
So please ban or zott me, just do what it takes, for I no longer wish to be associated with FR.
A life of dhimmitude and martyrdom at a time when it didn’t need to happen. Whatever happened to the brave MEN of the past? I am serious. Cowards! obama has the Muslim Brotherhood in the White House, you fools!
Stand up to a Romney administration and be heard if ya don’t like his policies, for Pete’s sake, but get obama out of there! - not talking to you Tony, but to the poster Cripplecreek that you responded to.
