Hitchens was an atheist. They don't get into Heaven. I have never spoke here about this before. My grandfather was an atheist. He lived til the age of 100 and on his deathbed, the day of his passing, he found Christ.
You don't really know what Hitchens had in his heart at the end. But that does not matter. Your comment stinks anyway. Classless.

I agree. None of us have the authority to place final judgment on Mr. Hitchens. We know the truth about someone who dies in their sins. We don't know if Mr. Hitchens repented at some point, and even if he didn't, it's pretty crass to point it out at this point. One can stand for the truth without intentionally trying to offend. I think that's what is meant by being all things to all people (1 Corinthians 9:19-23). Finally, I hope and pray Mr. Hitchens DID repent, because I'd rather all be saved.

Thanks for sharing that.

Wow.
Heartfelt thanks for that encouragement. My entire (living) family are atheists and I pray for them constantly. Sometimes it’s tempting to just give up.

I agree! We did a study in Sunday School a couple of years ago that pointed out that NO ONE knows what happens between the heart of a person and God in the final seconds before death. The minute I saw the news about Hitch’s death I breathed a prayer that he found his way to Him and is even now in the presence of Jesus. Not even those who were there at his deathbed know whether he did or not. When we get to Heaven, we will see!!

"isthisnickcool" replied to you with this:

If you believe that atheists don't get into heaven and you have here been presented with evidence of a deathbed conversion...an instance for which any Christian would be offering thanks to God and expressing heartfelt congratulations to the Christian reporting the news of his loved one...why haven't you replied?
And...Congratulations, isthisnickcool...what an amazing story.
