[Vanity] Stop the Herman Cain for President nonsense
EEE | 17 MAY 2011 | EEE

Posted on 05/16/2011 11:33:00 AM PDT by Extremely Extreme Extremist

I'd never thought I'd see the day when conservatives fully embrace affirmative action. The myopic and destructive support for Cain for President is TOTALLY based on the simple fact that he's an articulate black man and self-made businessman, so conservatives can say, "See! See! We're not racists, we love black guys too!" But so was bland boring white guy John Cox, a businessman who ran for President in 2008, also without having zero experience in elective office. So where was the support for him?

Please spare me the inevitable BS about how you'd rather support a businessman (or use the old pick names out of the telephone analogy) than "career politicians." I am not talking about lifelong bureaucrats serving in departments or agencies, I am clearly talking about elective office. Herman Cain has ZIPPO, NADA, ZERO experience in public office and the simple fact of the matter is that in the modern political era, the American people has overwhelmingly looked to state executives (Governors), retired or military Commanders, or Senators who still had some lower-level executive or business experience for President.

Now, if Cain would have won his Senate race in 2004 or at least had been Mayor of Atlanta and then won a Congressional seat and then ran for the Presidency, then this vanity post would be moot and I would be a likely supporter (although his age would have been an issue). I have no problems with Herman Cain, I admire his background, his intelligence, his business acumen, but right now to support him for the Presidency would be a huge mistake.

Number of factors why Cain shouldn't run and he if does, he shouldn't be supported:

AGE: Herman Cain is 65 years old. The GOP has a stable of younger, more dynamic stars on the rise that refutes the narrative that they're not the same-old party of old guys. It's time for a new generation of leaders, and Cain was needed 10 years ago.

POLITICAL EXPERIENCE: No businessman, Congresscritter, and only 2 Senators in the modern era have ever won the White House. It is EXTREMELY (no pun intended) difficult for a businessman off the streets to run for President because the perception is that the American people have always supported someone who at least won elective office first. Herman Cain has never held elective office and that makes him a non-starter.

MEDIA SPOTLIGHT: Look, let's get serious folks. Herman Cain is not photo-genic, and you know what I mean. The liberal media and entertainment industry will reduce him to a caricature and completely ignore the issues, all the while spotlighting the youthfulness of Obama.

Herman Cain is not electable folks. That's not to say he doesn't have a role in the election. He should surely be a spokesman for the GOP or serve on some type of conservative outreach panel talking to inner-city blacks about how destructive liberal policies are, or he should have even been GOP Chairman instead of the disastrous Steele. All Cain will do is split the conservative vote and we get another RINO for the GOP nominee.

I’ve been listening to Cain and can agree with several posters about him...but I do not see him getting the nomination. His educational background, though qualifies his education...does little to impress me when it comes to running for office of President.

I am hoping we have not seen all there is to the field of those who would run....saying we need to give people a “chance” makes me squirm. We can’t afford ‘Chances”. IMO we need those who know how to do Washington...or be closely affiliated with those who do know. So far Cain does not fit that bill.

I like Cain but he's going to split the conservative vote

A single candidate cannot "split" any vote.

To be a spoiler, Cain would have to be siphoning votes from a more qualified, more conservative candidate. Who is that?

Jim, facts don't matter to the Cain supporters. They completely ignore my central point: Had Cain won elective office first somewhere, I wouldn't be making these points.

Nobody is going to support a businessman with no public office experience for President. That's just the way it works. Which is why Governors overwhelmingly have a huge advantage when they run for President.

Someone likes Mrs. Palin...

Anyway... here’s my IMHO:

a) Mr. Cain is not some pasty old/young white dude trying to abuse women and minorities (which is what billions of dollars of MSM time will say about any white, male Repub, not matter how fantastic their principles and abilities are

b) Mr. Cain is not a conservative white woman trying to limit women’s right to free love and 1/2 the countries right to food stamps, cheap college, drugs, abortions and citizenship (which is what billions of dollars of MSM time will say about any white female Repub not matter how fantastic their principles and abilities are

So wouldn’t bet on Johnson, Gingrich, Paul, Pawlenty, Roemer, Romney, Santorum, Huntsman, Bachmann, Palin (publicly lampooned after loss as VP), McCotter, Daniels, Giuliani, Bolton.

Now, I’m not that good at countin’... but let’s see who that leaves...

All the speculated and turn-downs. Christie, should appeal a lot to Democrats, but then again, they would vote for nobama since he’s going to be the Democrat. Colonel West, good principles, but doesn’t have the traction to run yet and it would appear that he is well aware of that.

I still bet on Cain selecting Bachmann as running mate; I think these two can reach out to centrists and conservatives. For that ticket, besting nobama should be an easy lift in 2012.

But the same old question - will government then shrink itself significantly ????????

Those are the only two where I’d bet there would be much REAL shrinkage at all.

The LIBERAL MSM is going to operate the same no matter who the GOP candidate is.

A guy like Cain though, they will completely savage to the point where there won't be anything left even for turkey vultures. Oh, they won't do it outright. They'll have so-called black "leaders" like Jackson and Sharpton and other black intelligentsia speak on their behalf. They'll have black liberal entertainers call Cain an Oreo or a "sellout." And they'll mock his looks and mannerisms.

Governor Palin has been through the fires and can stand up to the criticism. The other candidates simply can't and will melt. It's time to stop pushing Cain for President. I have no problem with him as a cabinet secretary or adviser though.

SNIP (READ THE ARTICLE)

“Thanks to his parents sacrificial saving, and his hard work, Cain was able to earn a degree in mathematics from Morehouse College in 1967 and later earn a master’s degree in computer science from Purdue University (while working as a mathematician for the Department of the Navy.) He then worked as a business analyst for The Coca Cola Company. In 1968, he married his wife, Gloria. They have two grown children.

In 1977 Herman Cain joined The Pillsbury Company and within five years, at the age of thirty-four, rose to Vice-President of Corporate Systems and Services. Instead of settling back into his executive position, Cain, reflecting on his father’s drive to seek greater challenges, set his sights for corporate presidency.

SNIP (READ THE ARTICLE) and stop with the nonsense.

caww said,

“I am simply stating that if you think an inexperienced individual can step into the Presendential Office of this nation today, in the same way that it was possible years ago when they did just that, then again you do not have an understanding of where our country is now....and yes your head would not be quite in the right place, just as I stated before.”

You misspelled presidential.

I love how he used the affirmative action analogy regarding a man who has made it on his own merit. Pathetic.

I did no such thing. I used the affirmative action analogy on FREEPERS who are pushing someone who has no elective office experience for the highest office in the land.

You must denigrate him BECAUSE he’s black, for if he wasn’t, your post would be pointless.

Like it or not there are people as Extreme mentioned...but I do not think they are the majority who are in Caine's court. I like him too, but he is no wise ready for Washington IMO. So no the post is not pointless and needs to be considered when we look at people voting and their reasons for that. Maybe EEE was more forthright than some would be and stepped on toes, but the general idea of what was said is true. I have heard some excellant authors mention that Obama has ruined it for anyone of color...not because of his color but because he's such a total failure, but there are those who will surely identify that as 'color'...along with the failures.

He has been elected to senior posts at Pilsbury, Godfathers, CocaCola, BurgerKIng Communications-Navy, and Dole campaign, just to name a few.

Now he is fixing to be elected President Of The United States.

Gotta problem with that?

EEE Doesn’t care if Cain is heard, he’s not listening to anything he has to say.

If he's running for a Senate or Congressional seat, that's fine. But we're talking about the Presidency here. 2012 is too crucial to be promoting a long-shot who has no elective office experience.

What EEE wants is for all of US on FR to stop talking about Cain, so that his love Sarah has a wide field.

LOL. How many times have I said I would have no problem with Cain had he held prior office? I don't care if a million candidates run for the GOP nomination. But I will call out those who have no business of running in the first place.

The problem is that Sarah has not declared and, as far as I am concerned, has no stated intention of running for POTUS in 2012.

Sarah already has a grassroots organization on the ground, a strong PAC, and is making moves behind the scenes. I'm sorry that she's not playing your game of declaring an exploratory committee and then seeking out beltway hacks for advisers. She has stated numerous times in interviews that she was interested in running. You obviously suck at Poker.

IF she decides to enter the race, then and ONLY then will I consider her as a viable candidate.

She is a viable candidate NOW. Conservatives are already mobilized and just waiting for her to declare. That's why there is hardly any interest in the rest of the GOP candidates.

I would hate to be EEE if Sarah decides NOT to run. Then who will EEE support? Back to the 71 year old RP I suppose. Shameless hypocrisy.

I would stay home and hunker down and prepare for what's coming because none of the other candidates can take down Obama. I am not voting for a RINO or someone who has no intrinsic knowledge of how government works (Cain).

I never heard of John Cox either until EEE tried to use lack of conservative support for him as a straw man against supporting Cain. What bunk!

Do you even know what a strawman is? The John Cox analogy is totally valid here.

I have previously asked EEE to STOP calling all the fine folks who are ON THE SAME SIDE as he is ‘racist’, but yet he continues to do so in a Vanity post to boot.

If Cain was white you'd call for the hook to remove him from the stage. I just call 'em as I see it.

Buddy, give us some substantive facts to support your statement, ok?

Here some substantive facts for you.

With no prior experience in office, Cain would get steamrolled by the RINOs and Rats. His agenda would get bottled up and he'll be effectively a lame duck the minute he's sworn in.

You have to have some type of strong executive experience in public office. You can blab all you want about Cain's business experience, but that simply doesn't translate into the WH.

Cain has no business running for President, period.

I think the growing support for Cain is coming from the same place as the support for Trump. It’s not so much the candidate we admire - it’s the fighting spirit. We are so in need of a take-off-the-gloves candidate who will get in obama’s lying face that we tend to latch on to anyone willing to do that. It is unfortunate for the party that we don’t have an experienced, up and coming politician to do that....not yet, anyway.

career politician

For the thousandth time, I am not talking about lifelong bureaucrats or someone who spent 50 years in Congress.

There were plenty of opportunities for Cain to win lower office. Why didn't he?

None of these positions hold a candle to the White House.

Now he is fixing to be elected President Of The United States.

He's good enough for the Presidency but couldn't at least run for Mayor of Atlanta or Governor of GA to hone his skills and put them into place. Sorry, the Presidency is not an experiment.

Gotta problem with that?

Yes, I do. Conservatives are going to split the vote and we get a RINO for the nominee.

Cain has just as much right to run for president as any RINO blue blood, career politician or you and I have. After all, that's what the "PRIMARIES" are for aren't they?

Or is this simply about a "black guy" as you brought out in a previous post?

body supported John Cox in 2008 and he was an outsider and businessman. So why the support for Cain?

You said yourself, Cox was "BLAND and BORING"; Cain is not. Plus, did Cox have a radio show that people hear every day? Did Cox put it to Clinton more than a decade ago, like Cain did?

But I guess you're right, us dumb hill billies with our white guilt were looking for the first black man we could throw up there./sarc

“Caine’s court”

Misspelled that one too!

Generally speaking I don’t correct another’s spelling but in this case I think its important. (it’s?)(another’s?)

Herman Cain’s court.

Is that right?

Or, are you looking for a mutiny...

You're missing the point. I don't care that he, or anybody else, never held elected office.

Politicians have a centuries old history of sucking. Our country is in the crapper due to the experienced politicians we keep electing to office. If we really want to reduce the size and influence of government in our lives, why should we insist that we need somebody from the government to address the issue?!

I have no problem with voting for somebody who has a proven record of success outside of politics. Somebody successful in business, the military, or other field of endeavor. No problem at all.

It's a plus, not a negative.

Your buddy John Cox withdrew in 2007, so what's the purpose in even bringing up his name and why did you feel it necessary in mentioning the "Black" issue?
