It seems every couple of days FR sees a post asking if e are seeing the "End of America". Come on! get a grip!!!

If we are seeing the end of America, what exactly gets accomplished by posting it on FR? If this is the end, we have only ourselves to blame. So, it seems to me we have two choices: we can wring our hands, rend our clothes and run around yelling woe, woe, all is lost; or we can get off our butts and do something.

I choose to believe that conservatism is on the ascendancy, as evidenced by Scott Walker in Wisconsin. We will survive whatever Obama does and we will prevail over any and all adversity because there is, like always, a minority of the population who make America work. All will be well. The prophets of doom are losers and there is nothing American about them - they may be French, however.

but but but

Were doomed!

Besides if its the "end of America" then that is simply an opportunity to build a better country next time, exclusing the west coast asylum and eastern socialists.

America is bankrupt. This is reality, but that is not end of America, just as Russia going bankrupt is not the end of Russia

Because if we analyze the situation we can identify the problems and assess the potential solution.

Duh.

Vanity post is vain.

The place to reply to posts that you perceive to be overly pessimistic is on those threads where those posts are found.

In the short term, I too see some reason for optimism. I believe the nation has had a course correction (ala 2010 elections). Walker in WI may have set the stage to deal a crushing blow to the unions. This may in fact have some impact in 2012. In the llast few years, a lot of folks have woken up, many becoming tea partiers.

In the longer term, I’m probably not as optimistic as you.

There will be something called the United States of America for a long time. Problem is, it won't be what you or I understand to be America.

The Marxists in our school systems are — even now — teaching your children that being “patriotic” means being globalist, that belief in God is superstition, that American history is one of vile oppression and that morals have no relevance unless they are in service to the collective.

Oh yes, there will continue to be Fourth of July Parades. The American flag will continue to be waved — just as it is now by the Communist scum who took over the statehouse in Wisconsin. It just won't mean anything.

Nice speech. Very uplifting. Positive.
However, you must admit it can be rather difficult to be optimistic when the GOP "leadership" (Boehner, et al) are acting like it's '94 all over again.....

“I choose to believe that conservatism is on the ascendancy, as evidenced by Scott Walker in Wisconsin.”

—The problem is, despite all their talk, many Republicans in office are very cowardly creatures. They see what Palin, Walker, and the WI GOP went through, and they would rather duck under the table than personally face that kind of heat.

They confuse speaking out in a confident, assertive tone with being rude and arrogant.

Until more realize this, it will be a long, difficult battle that may not be winnable.

Too much defeatism and whining. You’re right. Some folks need to get a backbone and a grip on reality. They sound more like the wet Left than people who descended from the Founding Fathers.
