HAVANA - The conservative Tea Party movement, credited for a recent Republican resurgence in U.S. politics, is moving the United States towards fascism, Cuban leader Fidel Castro said in remarks published on Thursday.
Speaking to a group of visiting students in Havana on Wednesday, Castro called his powerful neighbor a ruined nation "on the road toward fascism" thanks to the Tea Party, which he derided as an "extreme right" movement.
Castro, 84, communism's most visible living figure, led Cuba from the 1959 Revolution until he stepped down for health reasons in 2006.
His brother Raul is currently the president of the Marxist nation.
The former Cuban president heaped scorn upon the upstart Tea Party movement led by conservative political darling Sarah Palin and several other insurgent politicians bent on upending the political establishment and "reclaiming" power from the President Barack Obama and his Democratic party....

But the pro-democracy dissidents in the USSR referred to the Soviet regime itself as “fascist.” They knew there was no real difference.
Pshaw...
The ones who attempt to be the zookeepers whine when the animals don’t wish to be caged and cared for by their all knowing selves.
So to them— yep, I reckon we do seem fascist.
They are the directors in this grand play and all would be right if only we mere actors cooperated.
They can see it, it would be bootiful maaan...

Pretty much nail on the head. Back in Germany the communists were competing with the Nazis for the very same types of recruits. Fascist vs. communist is really just socialist infighting. The big fascist himself, Benito Mussolini, was very much admired by American Progressives of the 20’s and 30’s. It seems they never learn.
It is. Fascism is one flavor of socialism, and only in a totally abstract sense is any flavor of socialism right or left of another.
ALL flavors of Socialism are dedicated to the minimization of Man and the glorification of the State. And ALL of them are dedicated to the removal of traditional religion from the life of Man; it must be removed to make room for the religion of the State.
NO flavor of socialism recognizes the inherent autonomy of the individual, neither does socialism make room for individual talents, abilities, tendencies, like, dislikes, enthusiasms, goals, or foibles, or allow for how these take us in different directions, and to different life situations.
Socialism is unnatural, forced, synthetic and artificial, and disallows the possibility of living an authentic life.
It is a death sentence to the spirit of man, no matter what flavor it is served up as.
Facism can be seen in government seizing corporations and propping them up with trillions of dollars.
They call then then that and they call them Nazis, while completely ignoring that Nazi was short for National SOCIALISTS.
Fidel needs to get to room temparature..
Like the airlines after 9/11 — though some would say that wasn’t ‘seizing’ little else seamlessly explains their utter acquiescence to the TSA.
Or, more recently, GM.
I think the "look" is right here in the WH!
Why not discuss it with the Black Congressional Caucus, Sean Penn and Danny Glover, they understand Marxism the way you do.
No greater compliment than caustic criticism from comrade Fidel!
Facists are actually socialist that have realized that socialism does not work. Thus they have decided to let capitolism exist and take a large percentage of the profits to build a quasi socialistic state.
China is the perfect example of that today. They are the worlds second largest economic power. Their leaders are communists but realize that communism will self destruct. Thus they have become pragmatic Facists. Unfortunatly it works.
Facism is a far greater threat than communism.
I always get Fidel Castro and Bruce Springsteen quotes mixed up.
“Fascist vs. communist is really just socialist infighting.”
Well put.
Later former Supreme Dictator* Castro stated that he thought he say smurfs running around his bedroom floor at night while oatmeal dripped into his beard.
*Sean Penn says that no one is allowed to call Fidel a dictator.
^saw...not “say”
When Fidel Castro doesn’t like what you’re doing, keep doing it!
Are you sure they're not the same person?
