Open Message to Mr. Beck (self proclaimed historian). Tonight on your TV show you said that you read the Confederate Constitution and I paraphrase "it had slavery written all over it, all about slavery blah blah blah". You are incorrect sir, I did a word search on the document and the word slavery appears "one" time. Everyone can try it for themselves at the link provided below.
Can never trust a Yankee, even a goofy entertaining one.
If that is true then you finally found one belief we have in common.
So you keep saying...and we keep waiting...and here you still are...not seceding.
...and delusional.
I would like to officially change the “Lost Cause” to the “Re-found Cause”
Why not rename it "Quest for the Holy Grail"? That fits just as well.
How does Ft. Sumter being annexed by South Carolina affect Michigan again? Where is the harm there?
Or they could be lil donkey hotays ;-)
Fort Sumter was not 'annexed'. Fort Sumter was stolen.
Did not the people of South Carolina pay taxes for "four score and four years" prior to annexing that stupid rock in the middle of Chas. Harbor?
I am glad this has been finally worked out, the War Between the States was fought over a chunk of rock in the middle of Chas. Harbor. Wow, this is great....
What if there was no Ft. Sumter? What would the excuse had been then for initiating hostilities? It would have been much harder for the Lincoln Administration then. If there weren’t a Ft. Sumter then the Feds would have invented one anyway.
As did the people in Michigan...and New York...and Pennsylvania. So if you want to go that route then Sumter was the property of all the states, not just South Carolina. And that property was stolen from them.

That was where the confederacy started the war by choosing to bombard it. So if you want to say that Sumter was their sole reason for starting the war then fine. I just disagree on that.
If you ride the bus for "four score and four years" does that mean you should be entitled to take it home?

No it wasn't, but it was that rock-headed sort of moral equivalence that got it started.
Absent Sumter I'm sure the Davis regime would have found something else to start their war over. Pickens. Runaway slaves. Something.
The amount paid by SC over 80 years more than covers the cost of that little piece of worthless real estate. Come on, get real.
It doesn’t matter if it was 800 years and you know it. Don’t you have any integrity at all?!
ROTFLMAO!!! So that's how it works? Well, the amount of taxes I've paid over the years should be worth an M-1 tank by now. I think I'll wander over to the Fort Riley and grab me one.
Surely that's a rhetorical question when directed to a lost causer?
You re the making the supposition the free independent country of South Carolina (I like the sound of that) "owed" the rest of the states something, NOT ME. I am arguing the opposite.
Of course you are. Because in your little Lost Cause world, only the South Carolina ("Too small to be a country, too large to be an insane asylum" - James Petigru, 1861) had any rights. All the other states had none.
Well, of course I believe it. I’m just shocked that you admit to being for it. Well, good on ya.
