Hi FRiends,
I have two brothers who I love very much, theyre young and libertarian Ron Paul supporters, sigh. We get along and Im hoping that one day theyll come back to conservatism, but they have bought into a theory that I dont think makes much sense:
Abe Lincoln was a dictator.
There are many websites dedicated to this nonsense you can Google "Abe Lincoln dictator" and get some weird stuff, if you want to check it out.
I need your help in busting this myth are there any books I can read on this subject to dispel this stuff? Do you know any of the arguments to combat this nonsense? Ie. Lincoln did not want to free the slaves.
Thanks for taking time out of your day to help me out, -Erod
I won’t be Reconstructed. I won’t let you deconstruct history either.
You want to keep the deconstructing history part to yourself, huh?
Still a legend in your own mind I see?
When the confederate government finally got around to authorizing black combat troops why did the legislation mandate that they be organized into segregated units?
Plus, the Union made sure to destroy all the Confederate records they could get their hands on.
You people truly are shameless. You can go to the Congressional Globe archives and find every word of every debate of every session of the confederate congress. You can go to the OR and find an entire series - 4 volumes - of nothing but documents from the confederate army. And there are thousands of confederate documents in the other 60-odd volumes as well. And yet you claim that the Union destroyed all the confederate records they could get their hands on. You can't even lie well.
Its a black descendent of a Confederate soldier and he has a pic of his soldier ancestor. Didnt have much time for forum today.
This should be amusing.
Where’s the picture, MJ?

Figured out your sexual identity yet? Male or Female? If Transgendered - You can say "both"
You hitting on me?
“If you read the “Godfather” by mario Puzo, you can understand the mentality of these neo-yanks.”
I hear ya! I’ve read it but still can’t fathom such a sick mentality.
When Richmond burned most of the records were gone with the fire. Shame too. During the Congressional Post War hearings the Confederate ordnance chief Colonel Josiah Gorgas had too testify from memory on the number of cannons made .etc. do to a lack of documentation. He even came up with the ammounts of ammo produced from memory.

Don't mind guys with pick-up-trucks and firearms? I'm spoken' for - but - I know someone!
And if I wanted to point someone to novels that might help them understand the Southron mindset then I'd recommend the works of George Orwell. Definitely "Animal Farm". Certainly "1984". The most perfect description of the world they have created has to be Orwellian.
Good morning to you, tonka_truck!
Here’s a link which is so easy to read that even kidz can grasp the concept, thus the archive title, “gettkidz”. Perhaps you can follow along with this one.
http://www.nps.gov/archive/gett/gettkidz/music.htm
But just in case you don’t read it all here are two of the highlights:
“The most important use of drums was on the battlefield where they were used to communicate orders from the commanding officers and signal troop movement.”
“Instead, they used bugles to sound the different calls in camp and on the march. The bugler was considered a cavalry regiment’s musician. Cavalrymen became so familiar with their own musician and his bugle calls, that they could often distinguish his calls from that of another regiment. Like the cavalry, artillery units also used bugles in camp and on the battlefield. One could tell who was camped where by the sounds of drums or bugles being played.”
I rest my case regarding the importance of musicians.

Here’s you a video in which a grandson of a Confederate soldier share’s his thoughts. He speaks in several segments, and in one segment he displays a photo of his grandfather’s unit’s reunion. He is proud of his grandfather’s service. Perhaps he is one you wish to contact so you can denigrate his ancestor’s service?
Then where did all these come from? Journal of the Congress of the Confederate States of America, 1861-1865
And all the thousands of documents in Series IV of the OR? How did those survive the Richmond conflagration? Not to mention the thousands and thousands of confederate documents included elsewhere in the OR? Offical Record of the War of Rebellion
The Southron propensity for myth creating knows no bounds.
“When Richmond burned most of the records were gone with the fire. Shame too.”
You see my point. Richmond’s weren’t the only records that burned either.
“I wont be Reconstructed”
I won’t be Reconstructed either!
With a Rebel Yell.........
END THE OCCUPATION!
FREE DIXIE!
NO MORE MULE TIT REPUBLICANS!
Judge people by the company they keep. Lincoln has the Marxist crowd making his excuses.
Then the Southron cause is in a lot of trouble.
“Cleyburnes proposal opens an intersting window into the confederate rebels mindset in late 1863.”
Oh, and tonka truck, one more question; In the above statement are you referring to Confederate Rebel’s mindset in the singular, or are you referring to the mindset of all Confederate Rebel’s?
