Hi FRiends,
I have two brothers who I love very much, they’re young and libertarian Ron Paul supporters, sigh. We get along and I’m hoping that one day they’ll come back to conservatism, but they have bought into a theory that I don’t think makes much sense:
Abe Lincoln was a dictator.
There are many websites dedicated to this nonsense you can Google "Abe Lincoln dictator" and get some weird stuff, if you want to check it out.
I need your help in busting this myth are there any books I can read on this subject to dispel this stuff? Do you know any of the arguments to combat this nonsense? Ie. Lincoln did not want to free the slaves.

Have you checked this email for it’s validity? If this email is the real deal and I had served is VN in ‘69 then I would tell this young man to remove his confederate flag if that is the rule for enlisting and it’s something he really wanted to do. I don’t know any Marines that put the Confederate flag before the American flag in this day and age. However, I would also like to know what ‘other’ tattoos are NOT acceptable. Is the military up on gang tattoos? ‘What about religious symbols? I would want a list of what was not acceptable.
Marfa has the 'mystery lights,' and Fort Davis has the high ground (and the fort named after Secretary of War Jefferson Davis). Check out McDonald Observatory ( http://mcdonaldobservatory.org/ ) online, they're just uphill from the town of Fort Davis, and located where they are because of the dark skies (i.e., not many people). Really nice folks in the area, during our time there a few years back. Alpine is also nice, a few more hills than Marfa, but not so many as Fort Davis. (For anyone interested - I always figured a micro-brewery could do well with Alpine Pale Ale, Marfa Light, and Fort Davis Dark! ;>)

Blacks faired as bad in the Union army, too. Lincoln was a rabid racist and his Generals were every bit as bad as any Confederate.

Now, make sure you read all the way to the bottom so you’ll be sure to see the service record. You’ll also notice he was issued arms. This is but one soldier. Again, there is much information out there if you truly want to find it before you go shooting off your “grits”.

That’s funny, because it shouldn’t be. It is a sacrilege to put a regular US Flag on a piece of clothing, much less on the body. The Marines should know the Flag Code.
Same with the dictator and tyrant Abe Lincoln. He was far from honest or humble. He was a tyrant and even the Supreme Court said so. Read the book “The Real Lincoln” for an eye full. History was re-written to make him look like a humble little log cabin boy, when the truth is he was perhapd the most powerful mis-west lawyer, a racist, and a tyrant.

I provided an excellent link earlier today. Sometimes if you read the links and follow them thru to different links you might learn something. For you see, I’ll post another link for you after while. And last, but not least, there is also historical record of who was considered a soldier. I’m sure you’ll be surprised to learn it includes more than just those who carried arms. I’ll provide that link after while too.

Oh and, tonka truck, one other thing before I’ve got to go for awhile; You might want to check into the federal government (Union) refusing to provide grave markers for the black confederate soldiers. Not that the federal government (Union) provided grave markers for any of the Confederate soldiers, but the black widows often couldn’t afford anything to mark their husband’s graves and the federal government (Union) wouldn’t provide the deceased with a marker at all if they had served under the Confederacy. So, some of those graves went without markers for quite some time. Mighty nice of them, huh?
Revisionist history/partial history is beginning to come unraveled. The truth has always been there but there were those who didn’t want it to come out.

Jeff Davis was the REAL tyrant. He was selected, not elected to office, he never established a confederate supreme court, he confiscated private property, he forcibly conscripted soldiers, and he cheated at cards. He was caught fleeing Richmond wearing a woman's dress, and by rights should have been hung or shot.

And, if you read enough of the slave narrative’s, which I’ve already provided a link for, you’ll find some of their stories corroborate their own heroic service for the Confederacy. So, as I stated earlier, you can contact their ancestors themselves to let them know their loved one’s weren’t really soldiers after all. HA! I suspect they will know you’ve been reading revisionist history or that you are simply a rude person.
State archives are excellent reasearch tools if you ever want to get off your “grits” and review them. It takes a little time but you can produce your own evidence of black Confederate soldiers......if you truly wish to find them instead of just denigrate their service.

Once I had a friend with me from the gym and he needed a lift home, as we stopped off to get gas a NY resident saw me and the flag. The guy gave one of those looks and then looked away but I questioned him and then he said it’s offensive. isn’;t it I asked him to who and he replied african Americans
I said really and then shouted for my friend to get out of the van.(he was from black)
I asked him if he had a problem with the flag and he said no.
I then turned to the yankee and said nope no problem off him maybe it’s you who really has the problem.
