Some torture stories are just too horrible to contemplate, while others are too complicated to understand. But Scott Horton's devastating new exposé of the possible murders of three prisoners at Guantanamo in 2006 is neither: It's simply too terrible to allow to be true. Which is why it has been mostly ignored this week in the mainstream American media and paid little attention by the usual crew of torture apologists on the right. The fact that three Guantanamo prisonersnone of whom had any links to terrorism and two of whom had already been cleared for releasemay have been killed there and the deaths covered up, should be front-page news. That brand-new evidence of this possible atrocity from military guards was given only the most cursory investigation by the Obama administration should warrant some kind of blowback....
When the story first broke, Andrew Sullivan wrote: "This deserves to be the biggest story on the torture issue since Abu Ghraibbecause it threatens to tear down the wall of lies and denial that have protected Americans from facing what the last administration actually did." But with the exception of a single AP story, the American media have been silent. The British papers have covered the story. The right-wing torture apologists have said virtually nothing....

steve-b has been posting this kind of nonsense on FR for years. He's one of out token libs. No holds barred with this troll.
9/11/01 is to terrible to be true.
Oh wait..
Keep digging. Do you need a new shovel?
This is about those 3 suicides, the ones that were forcefed after their hungerstrike about killed them. They left notes and everything.
Wake the hell up. Use that grapefruit on top of your shoulders.
I saw a commedian the other day who said the exact same thing.
The last time he was handcuffed to bed naked with underwear on his head he was having a great time. That’s not torture.
I guess it was a rhetorical question.
And then they sang the national anthem while drinking their blood and flushing Korans down the toilet.
And if your post was not hyperbolic satire, I still wouldn’t care.
The “atrocity” was that military lives were wrecked and the war effort trashed because of the Abu Ghraib “torture”. The media will never be happy till they put a bulls-eye on the back of every American soldier.
Exactly. I would be willing to bet that several each year, maybe one per month, somewhere... inmates are murdered in the prisons within the United States. Those stories are not really put out there in front of us.
I usually ignore this poster, and if you value your time, you will too.
Anything that bashes America, this guy is on it.
In the interest of full disclosute, I am totally against torture also.
There terrorist should not be in any jail within 3000 miles of the United States.
They should be interrogated for a couple of weeks, or until useful information stops.
Then quickly and humanely executed. A bullet to the back of the head works well, I undertand.
End of problem or discussion about "torture."
How about all of the white prisoners who are sexually assaulted on a daily basis and the guards do nothing to stop it?
TROLL ALERT
Just little things like fact, intellectual honesty and the truth.
Curious how you are so willing to believe this accusation brought to you be the same people whose track record includes the lies about Bush's National Guard service, "flushing Korans down toilets at Gitmo" or "17 WH indictments coming on Fritmus".
But then your sort always will believe any baseless, unproven, accusation as long as it validates your emotion based political dogmas won't you?
God forbid any factual reality ever be allowed to penetrate your comfortable little ideological bubble world.
You’re pretty opinionated for a newbie, aren’t you? How the heck do you know what “my sort” is? Just because you listen to Rush doesn’t make you intelligent.
Get your nomenclature right. It’s “goat fornicators” not pig.
If there were anything to it, the liberal news would have had it on every front page, no doubt what so ever.
The liberals hated George Bush because they thought he was more conservative than he really was.
