Watching the video of Sarah Palin’s appearance with William Shatner on the “Tonight Show” with Conan O’Brien, the one word that came to mind was style. Yet, there was more to it than that.
After all, she entered the arena of late night television, a stage that has excoriated her routinely — the “enemy camp” as Chris Matthews might say. Mrs. Palin's has been scoffed at before by Mr. O’Brien. The show has featured William Shatner mocking Mrs. Palin’s tweets by reading them as dramatic recitations.
Still, Mrs. Palin handled her appearance with the aplomb of Beyonce at the MTV Video Music Awards. She exuded the charm of Sophia Loren; the dignity of a Katharine Hepburn.
The blend of these qualities, with the feistiness and intellect of Margaret Thatcher and the forty-something feminine beauty of a Demi Moore, is what makes Mrs. Palin so dangerous to the political establishments of both parties.
She has a certain manner, an allure about her that has endeared her to a wide swath of the American public in a short period of time. She is upsetting a lot of apple carts and the entrenched politicos resent it. They have directed their fire at her.
Indeed, Mrs. Palin has weathered a torrent of vitriol. While her primary critics are liberal Democrats, the bien-pensants of both parties fear and loathe her.
This was evinced recently by Michael Petrilli’s hortatory article in the Wall Street Journal. Petrilli’s haughty piece titled, “Whole Foods Republicans,” had this to say about Mrs. Palin, “…there's Sarah Palin, whose entire brand is anti-intellectual.”
Mr. Petrilli’s remarks about Mrs. Palin’s supporters echoed what liberals have said about military personnel in Iraq (Senator John Kerry, D-Mass.: “you get stuck in Iraq”) and the audience of the Limbaugh show.

Unfortunately, Sarah’s recent statement that she is “100 percent” for the re-election of the RINO John McCain is not going to help her.
A real conservative eschews and avoids faux-conservatives like McCain, Graham, et al.
If Sarah should actually endorse McCain over a real conservative like J.D. Hayworth in Arizona (who may be challenging McCain), it will not bode well for her political future.
McCain might be her political benefactor for bringing her into national prominence, but he is unworthy of her support and I can’t imagine anyone disagreeing with that.
I think she’s ten times more polished as a speaker now than she was this time last year. I don’t know who’s coaching or helping her, but she’s catching on fast. I’ve never seen anything like it. For instance, Dubya got better as a speaker, too, but not as quickly or as completely as Sarah has. She is scary good and I can see why libs have fits every time they hear her name. They have reason to be afraid. She has it all.
That could NOT have escaped the leftist loons and I imagine more than one head exploded spectacularly. lol
I don't think she intends anyone to take this serious. She is damned if she does or damned if she doesn't on this issue. I would be very suprised if she pays (luscious) lip service to any other Rhinos.
It’s important to remember that McCain gave her her big break nationally, and she will never stab him in the back.....You need to keep things in perspective

I think you make a good point. Whatever the case may be, I believe her admiration and respect for his Military service is authentic and from the heart; what else is she supposed to say. It was a statement of gratitude in my book.
All she said was she supported John McCain 100% and said nothing about his campaign. She has even refused to comment on the campaign specificly when asked. Her comment was directed at the little flap about her blacking out his name on an old campaign visor while on the beach in Hawaii. Read her book, you’ll come away from it with a different mindset.
And sure enough, here comes the anti-Palin brigade to relate their latest Verse of their own personal political strategy in the very next post. She's "not, not, not... good enough for us".
She's plenty good enough for America, though. She has lots going for her, not the least of which is ELECTABILITY. Their imaginary candidate (or tried-and -failed like Alan whatshisname?) is only going to twist in the winds of time. She is a proven reformer. She listens and acts accordingly. Mostly, her attraction is probably because she is a smart, talented wife/politician/mom/businessperson/public speaker/conservative.

I have to disagree with you on this. The statement is about politics. She is attempting,from the outside,to build a base. Regardless of what she,you or myself may feel about McCain (we probably all agree) ,the man did nominate her for VP and as such she would be seen by some to be ungrateful for not supporting him.
If she appeared ungrateful then those within power now would be less likely to support her in the future. She can “go rogue” as she did in NY 23,bucking the establishment and supporting someone other than the party nominee to build her credentials.
In dealing with McCain and all the issues arising from the campaign she has taken the high road where ever possible. That’s a course she cannot veer from should she expect the help she will surely need if 2012 is not to become a meltdown and a second Obamination victory.
Again,this is politics. At this point in time,up to and possibly past her victory in 2012,she will have to show her gratitude to McCain for making her a national figure.
I think that the acid test is going to be if J.D. Hayworth in Arizona announces that he will challenge McCain for his Senate seat, the best move for Sarah is to remain neutral. As you said, she is in a damned if she does/doesn’t situation especially in McCain’s home state.
If she endorses McCain, it will probably make the difference in the election and McCain will manage a squeaker in the primary. If she lets McCain and Hayworth duke it out, I predict McCain is toast. It’s time for Arizona to send a REAL conservative Republican to the Senate and retire Juan for good.
The problem is that an endorsement of McCain will not endear her to conservatives in Arizona who want McCain gone, and that will reverberate. Bet on that.
Death to the aristocrats! Well... political death will do for now.
Checks and balances,Checks and balances. She can support Rubio over Crist and i’m sure others. The Arizona fight may have to be won without her or even in spite of her. Its a calculation that she needs make,not you or I. There will be plenty of other places she can prove and reprove her credentials.
