Sarah Palin's endorsement of Conservative, Doug Hoffman, in the upstate New York Senate Race over Republican Dede Scozzafava who is backed by Newt Gingrich, is a clear example of the present problem facing the Republican Party. Scozzafava is a Republican in name only. She votes like a liberal, stands for big government, abortion rights, and even supports laws to make it easier for unions to organize private business. So why would Newt Gingrich support her?
According to Newt, if you want to take back Congress from the Democrats, then you need to accept Republican candidates who may not fully conform to party ideals. I'm sorry Newt, but Sarah's right on this one. As she stated on her Facebook page, "Political parties must stand for something" and she's absolutely right.
Gingrich's reasoning only makes sense if you are strictly a supporter of party politics by name only. It is not the way to fix the Republican party and retake Congress and the White House. Another line of reasoning says, what good is it to elect a candidate that will support the Democratic agenda and eventually go the way of Arlan Specter. Better to stand up for your beliefs and die at the ballot box than give aid and comfort to the enemy. This is exactly the reason Palin is endorsing Doug Hoffman. Without Hoffman in this race it would be a contest against two Democrats, one who happens to be running on the Republican ticket. Hoffman may not win and indeed recent polling shows that may be the case, but at least another "pretender" from the Republican side will have a harder time winning office. This is the message that needs to be sent to the RNC....

Look at the facts on the ground.
A solidly Democrat candidate can only poll 36% in this district. Meanwhile a solidly Conservative grass roots level 3rd party challenger draws 23%! The Liberal GOPer pulls down 29%.
Run Hoffman as an R and you carry this district with at least 52% of the vote if not more.
This is not a swing distinct, the only reason to run Dede is crony politics.
Newt is a RINO idiot and serial divorcee. How many times has he been married?
Those percentages were from a week ago. I believe the new stats coming out Monday morning will show a completely different split considering the endorsement and funding changes of the past week.
What is so digusting is Juan McCain is acting like a conservative because of 2010 election. Graham-nesty feels the need to redouble his sell out efforts.
I think the Dems have files on all these RINOs like McLame, Graham-nesty, Snowe, Collins and Crist to insure they are sell out. I can imagine what they have on Graham and Crist.
I think the Dems hate Sarah so much because they could never find any dirt on her.
But an "R" next to their name doesn't make the 80% on its own.
Dang, I sure wish Newt could read that post!
Is this his fifth wife? She seems much younger. LOL!
Newt doing a commercial about global warming with Pelosi is unforgiveable. Hannity needs to stop having scum like Newt on his show. Dick Morris has far more credibility than Newt.
What is really frustrating about this is that this is a heavily Republican district. If we start putting moderates (aka liberals) in dark red districts, what will we get stuck with in swing districts?
Gingrich must think we’re all stupid, He essentially says,”If we all just become the liberal democrat party we will win elections”
Conservatives are the majority, we can win if we stand on principles. Make the moderates come to us. Simple no?
I think Newt is trying too hard to make friends at the GOP and by extension the DNC.
He needs to retrench and revert to his days in the US House and the Contract with America.
Till then he is as useless as t*ts on a boar hog.
” Newt is out to lunch supporting such an abject RINO...in fact, worse than a RINO.”
Exactly what I wrote yesterday to the GOP looking for money. Until the party leaders start waking up and paying attention to the state and local candidates, they will continue to lose elections. And I am no longer voting for the candidate with the r after the name unless that candidate is a true conservative.
They need to hear this loud and clear from all of us.
PS We’ve got Daggett running independent here in NJ. I’m just sorry that Lonegan didn’t opt to run third party against Christie/Corzine. He was the true conservative candidate, and people like Hannity, who talk big about supporting conservatives, refused to give him air time. Now we’re stuck with Christie. I stiil haven’t forgiven Hannity that one. Same goes for Newt.
