No, it doesn't. Kenya became "fully independent" in 1963, formed a Republic under an elected temporary government, and then elected a permanent government under a republican form in just under a year. What did they call themselves in the interim? The Land of Kenya? How about the temporary, semi-established Country of Kenya. Joe's Tavern?
The original 1963 government was not a Republic.
It wasn't one until 1964.
You can see here it is not called Republic of Kenya, it is simply Kenya.

You can see here it is not called Republic of Kenya, it is simply Kenya. Try reading it. Specifically article 3:
"This Constitution is the Constitution of the Republic of Kenya and shall have the force of law throughout Kenya and, subject to section 47, if any other law is inconsistent with this Constitution, this Constitution shall prevail and the other law shall, to the extent of the inconsistency, be void.
