I like the b-movies of the 1950's and 1960's the best.
Little or no foul language, not too much violence, and the wacky cheesy monsters they created. Today it is all femminazi superbimbos in charge, tons of CGI effects, and they are all produced in Canada :-Z
Last night I watched a sci-fi flick from 1962 called: Journey To The Seventh Planet, that had some really hokey monsters- one of which was a one-eyed dinosaur creature with rat-like features and big three fingered claws. This film was created by the same team that made ANGREY RED PLANET of 1959. Ib Melchior wrote that flick and this one and many others. Ever see 'Planet Of The Vampires' 1965 by Mario Bava? That film was inspiration for ALIEN.

They used that very same scene in Journey To The Seventh Planet- in some editions. There are re-used scenes from a Russian SF movie in a couple of Corman flicks which I find quite cool--"Voyage to the Planet of Prehistoric Women" and another I can't recall at this moment.

There was a great one where a mystery creature has broken out of the north polar ice cap and is circling the earth, leaving destruction in it’s wake. Seventy minutes of really good suspense and tension, and then you see the thing and it looks like a 98 cent dime store kids puppet. A good lesson in cinema...good writing is scarier than bad FX.

I believe you refer to “Rodan”, a large flying reptile (Pterodactyl?). I seem to remember that as a Japanese film...their monsters were always hokey...cultural differences I guess.

I loved Ray Harryhausen movies back then. Still do. “20 Million Miles To Earth” was on of my favorites. I just wish “The Giant Claw” was on DVD. A movie so bad it's good.

Nope.
Rodan came from Japanese miners accidentally opening a giant cave where the eggs were sitting.

Heh!
I remember my parents busting me watching that movie back when HBO only was on until about 1AM. They shut off the TV right when it was getting to the good part, too!
Who here used to watch Bob Wilkins?

I remember a movie about aliens invading earth in space ships. Don’t know the name of it. It was a Japanese film and both the earthmen and the aliens were Japanese.

Remember that flick Earth Vrs The Spider?

Yep...I stand (sit) corrected. Maybe it was “The ROC” , a large and really ugly dumb-looking bird that ate airplanes?

I thought that was the one. The trailer creature came really close to what I remembered.
I also did read Phantoms, and saw the movie.
Picked up Caltiki earlier on Ebay for nine bucks, BTW.

Wow. I'd need to refresh mine, as well (8^D). I recall it as a black and white of much earlier vintage.

The Return of the Creature was good, too (one of my granddaughter's favorites).
Your Granddaughter likes Clint Eastwood? He was in that movie for about 30 seconds.

AH! I remember that one!
The bird (Buzzard, actually -they didn’t even TRY to hide the strings!) would crash into the planes and eat the guys as they were dropping in their parachutes.
Now I gotta look up the name for THAT one!
BTW, how about, “The Day of the Triffids?”
