The Sci & Horror B-movies of Yesteryear

I like the b-movies of the 1950's and 1960's the best.

Little or no foul language, not too much violence, and the wacky cheesy monsters they created. Today it is all femminazi superbimbos in charge, tons of CGI effects, and they are all produced in Canada :-Z

Last night I watched a sci-fi flick from 1962 called: Journey To The Seventh Planet, that had some really hokey monsters- one of which was a one-eyed dinosaur creature with rat-like features and big three fingered claws. This film was created by the same team that made ANGREY RED PLANET of 1959. Ib Melchior wrote that flick and this one and many others. Ever see 'Planet Of The Vampires' 1965 by Mario Bava? That film was inspiration for ALIEN.

He was near the begining of the movie. He played a co-scientist who pulled a rat out of his pocket in the lab.

Clint Eastwood was a fighter pilot in “Tarantula” he dropped a load of napalm on the wooden puppet.

That was his first movie role.

Of course, being true to the Clint Eastwood style in it’s infancy, his fifth role featured Clint napalming a 100 foot tarantula in the desert.

Famous Monsters? I had quite a few of them. Didn’t take very good care of them, though.

I got lucky 2 years ago when they released the 1981 remake of Triffids BBC miniseries on DVD.

EArth Vs the Flying Saucers... thanks for posting the poster. This was one of my all time favorites when I was a kid, that along with the movie where Aliens from Mars come down and land in a saucer in a field near to a little boys house. It burries itself underground and then the aliens begin to clone everyone including the boys parents. The boy is the only one who knows what is going on and has a heck of a time convincing the military authorities. It has a great ending which I will not spoil. My only problem is I can’t remember the name of the movie :o(

I think the creepy part is when she sits up in the ambulance when she hears the ant sounds and the cop and attendant don’t see her. Then it stops and she lies down before they turn back.

Those Dr. Phibes films twisted my brain! Those are two truly bizarre films.

Sorry, I stand corrected. I don’t know why I thought it was made in the 30s, Maybe because I’ve only seen the movie in b&w.

Peter Cushing, and a lst class cast.

This movie scared me to death as a kid, would love to see it again, but no DVD is out.

Anyone else remember this movie?

One of my faves is “Theatre of Blood” with Vincent Price and Diane Rigg. Price plays a washed-up actor who decides to get revenge on all the critics who ever attacked him by killing them in scenarios inspired by Shakespeare.

Vincent Price always made horror movies fun to watch. I liked the Raven series.

Saw "Red Planet Mars" this afternoon and enjoyed it, not cheesy at all IMO. Well, some of the actors should have switched to Sanka but otherwise...

I didn't remember a bit about it until the part where the Russians start digging up the vestments and the next bit. That was as clear as if I'd seen it yesterday, wonder if that was used it some other movie as stock footage or something.

And while it's been many, many decades since I've seen it (I expect I saw it when it was released) I was reminded of "The Next Voice...".

Good one, thanks again.
