Forget Rush; Mitt Romney is quietly showing leadership (BARF ALERT)
Sacromento Bee ^ | 3/4/09 | Kathleen Parker

Posted on 03/05/2009 5:23:07 AM PST by CASchack

It's been a win-win the past few days for Democratic and Republican loyalists, but what about the rest of us?

You know. Americans who either don't think that (a) spending nonexistent trillions is quite the way to proceed in an economic crisis, or that (b) Rush Limbaugh is the messiah.

Oh wait, that's right, Barack Obama is the messiah. I get confused sometimes, what with so much deification going on. Limbaugh's 85-minute speech at last weekend's Conservative Political Action Conference, frequently interrupted by grateful applause from a slightly star-struck audience, was, dare we say it, Obama- esque.

But where there's deification, there's bound to be demonization. Thus, Rush told conferees that Obama, in essence, is Stalin. And Obama, via chief commando Rahm Emanuel, anointed Limbaugh as leader of the GOP, calling him the "voice and the intellectual force and energy behind the Republican Party."

Talk about damning with praise.

El Rushbo can't have minded much, despite his protestations that he was being manipulated and maligned by the White House to distract Americans from the "plunging economy." What could be better for a talking head than to be chosen by a president as his worthy adversary?

At least finally both sides certainly should agree on one thing: The Fairness Doctrine is a terrible idea! Who wants fair and politically balanced commentary on the airwaves when being "unfair" is keeping both armies in their Humvees?

The body politic, meanwhile, resembles a tempest-tossed ocean liner on which passengers scurry across the deck as the ship pitches. On one side is the president, promising to build a new $3.6 trillion ark. On the other is El Rushbo, clutching the conservative tablature: Thou shalt not raise taxes.

I’m blaming you for proclaiming that such a tax is moderate — “paltry.”

It is. Your typical 11 person operation in MA is going to gross at least $500,000 year. And that's on the low end. The tax is going to cost them $3,245 = 295*11. That's less than 0.65% of their gross. It's peanuts.

Again, I agree it's wrong, and Romney vetoed it, but in the grand scheme of things it's not a big deal.

I suspect that if you spent as much time asking your PCUSA why they are allowing homosexual clergy, as you do bashing the LDS faith, you might find part of the answers you keep asking.

Why is it BASHING to ask what Joseph Smith LEARNED???

Why do you think the PCUSA would have a ANY clue to what was told to JS by two lying demons?

Elsie, you are getting too hysterical over Mormonism. Again and again and again you post about nothing but attacks on Mormonism. Or are you trying to be funny? From a linguistic perspective, your word usage is almost identical to this other poster (cannot recall name at the moment) as if you two copied the stuff from same source.

Elsie is going to save the world by extinguishing Mormonism.
Kinda like Hitler and the Jews. Afterall, they are the greatest threat to freedom and everything ‘sacred’ to her and her compadres. I hear they’re coming over the border illegally by the thousands....setting off bombs all over the world....blowing up the Pentagon....pushing homo marriage....electing democrat liberals.....

Yeah, those damn Mormons are destroying the country! What do you want to do Elsie, convert them to your ‘form’ of Christianity or just kill them all? People like you are the reason most of us don’t go to church anymore. You give Christianity a stench that is intolerable and ammunition to the real enemy....and guess what, Elsie, it’s not Mormons!

Continue with your hysteria. I’m outta here.

Sevenbak LIES when he insists, as he does repteatedly, that Limbaugh "endorsed" Romney.

But then, you already know that.

You have a funny definition of "hysterical." I am disgusted and angry that certain FReepers repeatedly lie to fellow Republicans and misrepresent the words of respected pundits like Rush Limbaugh with regard to "endorsements" of their hero Romney. They are so desperate to convince people that pundits like Limbaugh agree with them, that they lie.

Yes, that makes me hot and bothered, and if it doesn't bother YOU, then you have a serious problem.

You operate a small business, then? So you know of what you speak? I am self-employed, and as such have my own small business. I have contempt for those who presume to tell business owners what are and are not "paltry" taxes for them to bear.

You illustrate the arrogance of the GOP elite, dear.

Members of my family do, and I helped out with the management when I was a student. I am familiar with how it works.

I am self-employed, and as such have my own small business.

Do you operate a small business with more than 11 employees?

If so, and you would find an extra $295 per employee per year in labor costs to be onerous burden, then you probably should be doing something else for a living, as that would be a sure sign that you're not very successful.

I stress again here: I am not endorsing anybody. -- Rush Limbaugh, from a segment of his show where he very warmly praised Romney's "Religion in America" speech

Why do you think Rush Limbaugh said that?

Do you actually believe he was just blowing sunshine up everybody's butt except "we know what Rush really means" Romney supporters??? Now go look again at sevenbak's post 23. What's the first word in the post? I'll give you a hint. It starts with an "E."

You Romney people are truly deluded. Presumption and arrogance define you. You demonstrate why Romney is such a bad choice all around.

In other words, no, you do not operate a small business.

In other words, no, your ass is not the one on the line, the one paying the bills, the one taking the bite.

I have two employees.

You condescend to pronounce: If ... you would find an extra $295 per employee per year in labor costs to be onerous burden, then you probably should be doing something else for a living, as that would be a sure sign that you're not very successful.

Oh, REALLY! Well excuse me for living. Excuse me for being successful enough to pay our mortgage, our insurance, our bills, our taxes, our modest expenses because we live humbly and simply, by creating out of scratch products that people actually buy from me and my business' other employee. Curiosity, I'll bet that you have never paid your mortgage with money earned from something you conceived and produced from scratch and sold to someone who wanted or needed it. I HAVE.

AGAIN, you present the perfect illustration of the limitations, naivete, presumption, and high-minded arrogance of Romney people who presume that they know what's best for everybody else, that THEY are smarter than anyone else, more capable of judging what kinds of success determine what someone should be doing for a living.

Yipes. The more I learn about the mindset and so-called "free enterprise" philosophy of Romney supporters, the more I am motivated to alert as many fellow Republicans as possible to the fraud that is Romney.

Yipes. You sound like a shrieking hysterical female when you reduce my true observations as meaning Romney is a bad person and his supporters are all bad people.

There are none so blind as those who will not see, and you are willingly wearing blinders at AMERICA'S expense.

I have two employees.

You would not have been subject to the $295/employee surcharge. You need to have eleven or more to be affected.

For the record, I'm not defending the surcharge. Romney vetoed it, and I would have opposed it too had I been in government at the time.

I'm just pointing out that for a business grossing $500K per year, it's a peanuts.

Since your business is nowhere near that size, you're in no better position than I am to judge it than I.

I asked a very straightforward question regarding Limbaugh's words, "I stress again here: I am not endorsing anybody." My question to you was: Why do you think Limbaugh said that?

Your response: Okay. So Romney is a bad person and his supporters are all bad people. That’s your opinion? As I said, adjust the meds. Your “Shift” key will thank you.

Meanness, pettiness, insult, defensiveness -- but no answer to my simple question.

Why is that?
