In 1961 hospitals had to courier or mail BC's and COLB's to the state dept. of vital statistics. I would expect the date of birth to normally be prior to the date of registration with the state.
Of course, but by how much?
If Obama were born at Kapiolani Hospital, as would most likely have been the case for anyone in the University of Hawaii community in 1961, it should be failrly easy to determine the normal lag between birth and registration.
If this particular birth were to have been registered, say, a week later than normal, with no hospital indicated (home birth), and no attending physican’s signature, and AFTER Ann Dunham was repoerted to have shown up at her childhood friend’s home in Mercer Island, WA asking for instructions on diaper changing, it would very strongly indicate to me that Obama was NOT born in Hawaii.
