Over the past several months, I've seen the Roman Catholic church, its beliefs, its clergy, and its members sneered at,smeared with vicious exaggerations, and deliberately lied about.
I've read these things on the web and wondered: " Where are the Catholics ? Why aren't we hearing from them ? Why isn't their viewpoint appearing ?
You received a little tap on your cheek or shoulder- during confirmation to remind you of your duty as "soldiers of Christ". Did that little tap so unnerve you, that you can only cower in silence when bullies from the Left and Right denounce your faith ?
It's been 60 years or more since I left the Catholic church-and I have no intention of returning. Nonetheless, I've been finding myself taking up cudgels on your behalf because so few of you seem to pack the gear to respond anymore.
How about it ? Am I reading the situation right ?
Answer if you dare !
Yeah, what's up with you???
Maybe they aren't lies and exagerations...hmmm.
Boy I guess we are pretty pathetic if we're being defended by someone who left the church 60 years ago/ sarc
I'm not Catholic but I know this is not a new thing. "There's nothing new under the sun."
If you click on the "Religion" forum here at FR, they are there all the time. And they usually respond to attacks on their Church and defend their faith.
lol!
Answer if you dare? What's up with that? Did you miss all the rallying around Pope Benedict when he confronted Islam? Have you missed all the pro-life discussions? Do you ever visit the religion forum?
We are still here, but I don't have to answer to you.
Probably because we aren't chest beating, loud mouthed, Bible thumpers. Our beliefs are ours and that is that.
And that's just on here on FRepublic.
Liberation theologians and the Jesuits don't help. They are the most nauseating liberals I have ever had the displeasure of studying with.
One need not get in the mud when the one in the mud is sinking just fine.
I don't think Catholics have to go out and stop traffic, burn down buildings, and insult the lefties. Perhaps their prayers say much more than the rantings of the left loonies.
I would think that the Right to Life movement, of which the Catholic Church is a big part, should be considered.
And they do vote. God bless them.
"Ironically," Fr. Jonathan, a Jesuit who is a commentator on FNC, is a conservative Republican.
You will find no strong defenders of our faith than the folks here at FRee Republic. Try checking out the Terri Schiavo threads, any thread about embryonic and adult stem cell research or euthanasia. We are there. We are always there.
The religion forum is the smallest part of where the "action" is.
And no: no one has to answer to me. At some point, I think you may find yourself answering to your own consciences, when some of the folks who truly hate you finally have their way.
