Rudy Giuliani Throws Hat Into 2008 Presidential Ring
Post Chronicle ^ | 2/1/07

Posted on 02/01/2007 5:41:39 AM PST by areafiftyone

According to a source close to The Giuliani campaign, Rudy Giuliani is throwing his hat into the ring.  The Hinzsight Report confirms, through a source close to the Giuliani campaign, that he is presently sending people out into all 50 states to secure his name on the primary ballots.

"Despite Mayor Giuliani's public cautiousness, this is evidence that he is seriously pursuing the Presidency in 2008, and he should be taken very seriously.

Critical state polls have shown Mayor Giuliani leading the pack, and it's about time that he start being considered what he is--the front-runner" a source tells The Hinzsight Report.

Giuliani has lined up nearly 300 key Republican supporters in New Jersey for his bid for the 2008 presidential nomination, his campaign announced this week.

In a recent Quinnipiac University poll of New Jersey voters, it showed Giuliani leading all Republican presidential candidates and ahead of Sen. Hillary Clinton, the leading Democratic contender, in a head-to-head matchup.

The New Jersey primary, which is currently set for Feb. 26, is likely to move up to Feb. 5, placing it early in the campaign season and increasing its significance.  As many as 15 states could hold their Republican presidential primaries Feb. 5, reports Gannett.

You seem obsessed with having the last word, however schoolish it sounds, so I'll let you have it.

I think Freepers know who is the best choice of candidates for them, and its not America's Mayor, Rudy Giuliani.

Just thinking -- the R party gained power thru the Contract with America, a 'political' conservative document that said nothing about 'social' issues.

Do you think that abandoning that base, and going with 'social' conservatives instead, is a election winner?

And I caution anyone from crossing their fingers and hoping for a bad economy during the primaries just so that they can see Rudy win the nomination. That would be a very liberal thing to do.

I am sorry, but I just cannot let this one pass.

A caution? A warning? Is that projection?

A most excellent point.

I'm awaiting the responses to that!

You know, some of the remarks being made on this thread are beginning to sound rather "meanacing."

"He would have to be the best salesman in the world to convince the Religious Right that he is on their side. He's just not. These are not some stupid uninformed voters, they are a very powerful arm of the GOP, who stand on principles. They will never sell out those principles of pro-life, pro-gun and anti-homosexual agenda."

The battle will really be decided with who ever Rudy would have to debate from the far "left". I don't know how he is going to come across as anything but a RINO? Will this make a mockery out of our choice of candidates?

I honestly don't know?

Wow! I didn't know that Rudy was running for Congress in the midterms with a Democrat President like Bill Clinton! Which district is he running in? I'll bet he'd have EXCELLENT success if he runs in one of the more liberal districts in his home state.

He avoided serving in the military.

Link?

I've never seen any mention of Rudy serving in any branch of the military. Am I wrong? I'm going to be really embarrassed if so.

Wow!

You somehow missed answering me. Pure oversight, I'm sure.

Do you believe the Contract with America swept Rs into power?

So, in your opinion welfare reform, anti-crime policy and enforcement of child support laws aren't social issues.

Gotcha!

The Contract With America contained specific issues. Newt wrote up the CWA from Reagan's policy speeches. Conservatives didn't run away from their pro-life, anti-gun control, anti-gay positions. The old Reagan coalition was made up of social and fiscal conservatives. That coalition worked great and gave the GOP some huge historic election victories. That coalition was a winner and can be a winner again.

So how do you explain him being the frontrunner in the polls?

He's a media darling. As soon as the campaign gets into full swing and Rudy's liberal bona fides start surfacing, he's going to tank.

So you think the Second Amendment should be interpreted to guarantee a right for passengers to bring loaded guns onto commercial airplanes?

It wasn't an issue up until the 1960's. Heck, even into the 1970's on some carriers. Why the fear and hysteria now? Have you been watching too many old Twilight Zone or James Bond movies? Afraid one bullet will cause massive decompression? Even if it drops the AC out of the sky from an extremely "lucky" hit on the avionics compartment, how less dead are you than if the terrorists crash you into a building instead? Further, there are "aircraft safe" rounds that could be mandated by the airlines insurance agreement for those wishing to carry while on board. Check your ammo at the gate, load your frangible "smart" rounds, and any terrorist wanna be's end up on the bad end of the stick.

So, in your opinion welfare reform, anti-crime policy and enforcement of child support laws aren't social issues.

Welfare reform is about how we redistribute wealth, and efficent systems. A political issue. Being against welfare *entirely* would be a 'social' issue. Something that wasn't ever proposed, and would not win.

Crime is not a 'social' issue, either.

Tell me this -- do you believe that the 'Contract with America' is what swept Rs into power?

LMAO It's that JMC813 who asked me to go out with him! So I called him on it, complimented his coming out of the closet on FR and asked him to vote for pro-gay Rudy.

It was a joke. I posted a funny picture and I thought you were a chick.

Anyhow, I really don't care one way or the other when it comes to gays, so you won't see me bashing Rudy on those issues. There are enough other issues on which Rudy turns my stomach.
