Yes, Rudy Giuliani Is a Conservative
City Journal ^ | Jan.25, '07 | Steven Malanga

Personally, I prefer Tancredo although I admire "America's Mayor," and this article sheds some light on Rudy's little known conservative and courageous accomplishments.

I just can't understand why they worry about gays when gays have no affect on their lives and why its a critera when selecting the President when the President has no power over what they do or how they live their lives. Gays don't kill but terrorist do. And with that, its time for me to go to bed. Good night.

yes, the war does seem to be a big issue with catholics (mostly against)but i still think a strong pro lifer could sway them again.

of course some, unfortunatly are hopelessly lost and would vote dem, regardless.

Our parish nun, actually encouraged folks for the 06 election to vote anti war only stating that "bushes war" was far worse than abortion. i cant wrap my brain around that kind of logic.

oddly many of them seem to like rudy, go figure because he seems strong on defense. so if duncan is also, but is pro life, he could possibly swing some votes there:)

I’m pro-choice. I’m pro-gay rights, Giuliani said. He was then asked whether he supports a ban on what critics call partial-birth abortions. “No, I have not supported that, and I don’t see my position on that changing,” he responded. Source: CNN.com, “Inside Politics” Dec 2, 1999 http://www.ontheissues.org/2008/Rudy_Giuliani_Abortion.htm

ANDERSON COOPER 360 DEGREES (November 14, 2006)

RUDY GIULIANI (R), FORMER MAYOR OF NEW YORK CITY: I'm pro- choice. I'm pro-gay rights.

KING: Giuliani supports a woman's right to an abortion, and back in 1999, he opposed a federal ban on late-term abortions.

GIULIANI: No, I have not supported that, and I don't see my position on that changing.

KING: Immigration could be another presidential landmine. Back in 1996, Mayor Giuliani went to federal court to challenge new federal laws requiring the city to inform the federal government about illegal immigrants.

JEFFREY: He took the side of illegal immigrants in New York City against the Republican Congress.

KING: Giuliani opposes same-sex marriage but as mayor, he supported civil unions and extending health and other benefits to gay couples. He also supported the assault weapons ban and other gun control measures opposed by the National Rifle Association.

GIULIANI: I'm in favor of gun control. I'm pro-choice.

Republican Big-Wigs Support Pro-Abortion Event in NY

Pro-abortion Governor George Pataki and New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani, who also supports unrestricted abortion, are co-chairs of the 2000 Choice Award Presentation to be held on May 30 at the St. Regis Hotel in New York City. The event is sponsored by the Republican Pro-Choice Coalition, a group that is campaigning for the removal of the pro-life plank from the Republican National Platform.

Your post was untrue.

You might need this about now:

Let your conscience be your guide, Howlin.

Better MY conscience than yours, pal. I'm not the one having to suck up on this thread.

My Catholic sister would have loved the "permission" of a parish nun to vote against the war :) Instead she, in a heavily Democrat, Catholic area, was persuaded by her church to vote for Bush, or my guy as she told me then. I guess there is no telling how it will come out in 2008.

Rudy's Star Power (Rudy's like Tancredo on immigration!)
National Review Online ^ | 1/30/2007 | Kathryn Jean Lopez

A friend of mine was at a fundraiser for Rudy Giuliani in Los Angeles last night. His walkaway thought: “[Rudy] might have a tough time in the primary but he will crush in the general.”

Said friend says of last night: “I have to tell you the man is very impressive. When he talks about the war on terror he does so more clearly than anyone I have heard including the President. He doesn't bash the President ever and this was LA where he could really get away with it.”

Rudy did an immigration bit that was “to the right of everyone else except maybe Tancredo. He talked about immigration in terms of national security. He said we needed to revamp our entire system so that we can get good people. He also said that if the twelve million already here expected to get any type of citizenship they would have to prove that they could read, write, and speak English.”

The fundraiser was sponsored by Bill Simon (who worked with Rudy in the U.S. Attorney’s office). My friend, who is the rare pro-life, Hollywood hawk, left wondering if he could support Rudy if it came to that. “We all know where Rudy is on abortion but my question is what does he think of Judges Roberts and Alito? If he says that he would appoint judges of like mind then I think he can skate on the abortion issue because it does come down to the judges.” It was Hollywood though so no one asked about any social issues.

He'll be rolling in money, before he has to "come out" in public, on what his stances are. That's what YOU and Hunter don't understand!

that is true. catholics are a fickle bunch:)

im in a mostly conservative area. funny how in a liberal area the priests are conservative (or the nuns) and liberal in conservative areas.

i think its probally far to early to say how it will turn out as well, but id like to give duncan a chance, as he would certainly be my first choice:)

I was on the Libertarian threads and on the threads where they were trashing W. If I wanted to bother, which I don't, I bet I could find, if they still exist in FR's archives, you trashing candidate W. Not a single Libertarian EVER said a nice word about him.

No, you weren't "idealistic"; you were stupid! Now, you've grow up some and seen the error of your former stupidity. Congrats! :-)

Perhaps. Whatever it is he wants, it isn't the presidency; which he KNOWS is beyond his reach.
