Yes, Rudy Giuliani Is a Conservative

Personally, I prefer Tancredo although I admire "America's Mayor," and this article sheds some light on Rudy's little known conservative and courageous accomplishments.

I know! I thought her post pinging all the Catholics on her ping list was hilarious. Like they represent every Catholic in America. This is getting funnier and funnier.

Was at a meeting last Tuesday night with Republicans where several Catholics out of the group were supporting Rudy -- guess they didn't get the word that they are not supposed to do that! I just asked one of them if he was on the ping list for all of American Catholics. He thinks I have officially cracked up.

It's interesting they're all about liberty and freedom, except when it comes to women and gays and others needing government to "impose righteousness" upon us--they are total big governmentaholics then!! But let big government rumble about gun restrictions, and it's wah-wah city.

Why not write to Jim privately or is this post more about public consumption?

No. In 99, when I joined, I just wanted Clinton out, I didn't think a lot about the candidates. But as I admitted in a previous post, I had some idealistic fantasies about the libertarians around that time, so I might have reflected some of that. But I certainly never badmouthed W in any way.

How many times will you whine when the facts about Rudy get posted?

You think they're facts because you post them over and over and over?

My, my, they aren't making Freepers as smart as they use to.

Ooops sorry. It's that Giuliani supporter stereotype that I have.

Grassroots route, with NO money for traveling and advertising and paid people to run things in each precinct of every state?

He's a good man, as far as I can tell, but an unspectacular one. He's been in the House since 1981 and almost NOBODY knows who he is. With just that one statement of his, regarding the need to raise at least 100 million dollars, he has proved that he is just not up to running any kind of viable primary campaign. Perhaps he is angling for a VP slot.

Hush now, I'm sure he's busy working on the one where he admits calling me a liar was a mistake.

Grassroutes doesn't have to be travel, that's 30k a plate thinking. I'm not sure Hunter will get the local volunteers he would need otherwise, but I am sure he will need them.

It all sounds quite interesting. But an apology when caught (saying what I don't know, or much care), is only sensible. Spiff and I don't agree on much of anything, and he doesn't like or respect me, and has made that very plain, but to error is human, to forget is an increasingly age specific way for me to move on, and to forgive divine. Spiff should remain free to give me heartburn.

What is a conservative, these days?

Very good question, as I said. I've seen "conservatives" on FR defend Michael Schiavo obsessive efforts to kill his wife, and defend a court-sanctioned murder, all in the name of "states rights." I've seen "conservatives" on FR ridicule people of faith and defend a "theory" of origins that was embraced by oppressive communist and eugenic fascist regimes in Europe. I've seen "conservatives" on FR who wish to have America selfishly pull into itself and abandon the causes of freedom and justice around the world, allowing them be overrun by their enemies. I've seen "conservatives" on FR say that because of their "principles" they will sit out the '08 election and allow the return of the sociopathic and narcisstic Clintons to the world's most powerful office.

Frankly, there's a lot that parades around this place in the name of "conservatism" that quite frankly, I'm ashamed to be associated with. But for some concept of the "greater good," I tolerate it. Maybe I shouldn't.

as a catholic myself i can tell you that ALOT lean left. BUT they will come out and support a STRONG pro life candidate regardless of party.

They didn't support Bush in 2000, but did, 52-47, in 2004. I know many Catholics who did in fact switch their vote because of the abortion issue but almost every one of them tell me it was a mistake now because they are and have been against the war.

Hush now, I'm sure he's busy working on the one where he admits calling me a liar was a mistake.

Your post was untrue. While I had said some hurtful things about Jim Robinson in the past, by no reasonable definition had I been "regularly trashing" Free Republic 24/7 - or Jim Robinson for that matter. You can call what you said, or what you are for saying it, whatever you want. I know what you said and I know why you said it. Let your conscience be your guide, Howlin.
