Yes, Rudy Giuliani Is a Conservative
City Journal ^ | Jan.25, '07 | Steven Malanga

Personally, I prefer Tancredo although I admire "America's Mayor," and this article sheds some light on Rudy's little known conservative and courageous accomplishments.

Thanks. Here is what ameribrit defends:
"This is an industry that is profiting from the suffering of innocent people," Mayor Giuliani said. "What's worse, its profits rest on a number of illegal and immoral practices. This lawsuit is meant to end the free pass that the gun industry has so long enjoyed."

Defendants named in the suit include most major gun manufacturers, distributors and dealers currently operating the United States, or who export large numbers of guns to the United States.

Plaintiffs in the lawsuit are the City of New York, Mayor Rudolph W. Giuliani, City Council Speaker Peter F. Vallone, and the Health and Hospitals Corporation. The suit was filed in the United States District Court, Eastern District of New York.

Pro-Illegal Immigration

As Tom Bevan of RealClearPolitics has pointed out, Rudy is an adherent of the same approach to illegal immigration that John McCain, Ted Kennedy, George Bush, and Harry Reid have championed:

"While McCain has taken heat for his support of comprehensive immigration reform, Rudy is every bit as pro-immigration as McCain - if not more so. On the O'Reilly Factor last week Giuliani argued for a "practical approach" to immigration and cited his efforts as Mayor of New York City to "regularize" illegal immigrants by providing them with access to city services like public education to "make their lives reasonable." Giuliani did say that "a tremendous amount of money should be put into the physical security" needed to stop the flow of illegal immigrants coming across the border, but his overall position on immigration is essentially indistinguishable from McCain's."

That's bad enough. But, as Michelle Malkin has revealed, under Giuliani, New York was an illegal alien sanctuary and "America's Mayor" actually sued the federal government in an effort to keep New York City employees from having to cooperate with the INS:

"When Congress enacted immigration reform laws that forbade local governments from barring employees from cooperating with the INS, Mayor Rudy Giuliani filed suit against the feds in 1997. He was rebuffed by two lower courts, which ruled that the sanctuary order amounted to special treatment for illegal aliens and were nothing more than an unlawful effort to flaunt federal enforcement efforts against illegal aliens. In January 2000, the Supreme Court rejected his appeal, but Giuliani vowed to ignore the law."

If you agree with the way that Nancy Pelosi and Company deal with illegal immigration, then you'll find the way that Rudy Giuliani tackles the issue to be right down your alley.

The decline of FR mirrors the decline of the Republican Party. Both have jettisoned their core principles and are now facing the consequences. Who wants to stay on board a rudderless ship?

Yes, she would; but, she will be delighted to know that some people here are planning on voting for her, or so they say, if
Rudy or Romney or McCain is the GOP nominee.

I have no need to qualify those who are conservative or how conservative they are. I could care less who is most conservative, who is less conservative or who is just a little conservative.

You've seen the chart. You can read his record for yourself, I hope, and his statements. Rudy doesn't even qualify as Republican given his opposition to nearly everything in the Republican Party Platform. And if being conservative was a crime, and Rudy was charged with it, the judge would have to throw it out of court for lack of evidence.

What I care about is my country. What I care about is defeating Islamic Fascism. What I care about is defeating Shillary.

Me too. Everyone here does. But throwing in the towel and abandoning our conservative effort more than a year before the first vote is cast is for surrender monkeys, not conservatives. Almost every one of the other Republican candidates is committed to defeating Islamic Fascism and defeating Shillary. Pick one of the actual Republicans in the race.

Its ok. We'll gain 5 times as many moderates and independents than we lose from the fringe right.

I can really see the rules have changed around here with regard to spam. Since no one is going to worry about spam, maybe I should just repost that Hoover Institute article 50-60 times. LOL

Then act like you know what it means.

"Instead some here are BRAGGING about how they'd rather vote for Hillary. True Conservatives, my foot!"

No conservative can or will vote for Shillary.

I understand their passion and their frustration that Rudy is the front runner.

It's early and maybe someone will come forward and replace Rudy as the front runner.

Truthfully, I don't see one out there yet but you never know.

Newt is brilliant and I would support him in a heartbeat, but I don't think he will run.

The more sober individuals here are noting that none of Republican heavyweights this election are social conservatives.

There's Jeb Bush
