Yes, Rudy Giuliani Is a Conservative
City Journal ^ | Jan.25, '07 | Steven Malanga

Personally, I prefer Tancredo although I admire "America's Mayor," and this article sheds some light on Rudy's little known conservative and courageous accomplishments.

I know people who have guns in the city during Rudy's tenure and still have them.

For protection against homosexuals? :0)

Why can't all these Rudy bashers that adore President Reagan see it?

It's not that they can't see it - it's that they DON'T WANT TO see it!

Rudy was so liberal, according to these purists, that Reagan appointed him to serve at DOJ. Doesn't say much for Reagan's judgment does it? LOL

Means maybe you should like him too. And no, Rudy is no liberal. He is a fiscal, domestic, and foreign policy conservative that supports strict constructionist judges.

Good call. Me too. Pro-Illegal Immigration

As Tom Bevan of RealClearPolitics has pointed out, Rudy is an adherent of the same approach to illegal immigration that John McCain, Ted Kennedy, George Bush, and Harry Reid have championed:

"While McCain has taken heat for his support of comprehensive immigration reform, Rudy is every bit as pro-immigration as McCain - if not more so. On the O'Reilly Factor last week Giuliani argued for a "practical approach" to immigration and cited his efforts as Mayor of New York City to "regularize" illegal immigrants by providing them with access to city services like public education to "make their lives reasonable." Giuliani did say that "a tremendous amount of money should be put into the physical security" needed to stop the flow of illegal immigrants coming across the border, but his overall position on immigration is essentially indistinguishable from McCain's."

That's bad enough. But, as Michelle Malkin has revealed, under Giuliani, New York was an illegal alien sanctuary and "America's Mayor" actually sued the federal government in an effort to keep New York City employees from having to cooperate with the INS:

"When Congress enacted immigration reform laws that forbade local governments from barring employees from cooperating with the INS, Mayor Rudy Giuliani filed suit against the feds in 1997. He was rebuffed by two lower courts, which ruled that the sanctuary order amounted to special treatment for illegal aliens and were nothing more than an unlawful effort to flaunt federal enforcement efforts against illegal aliens. In January 2000, the Supreme Court rejected his appeal, but Giuliani vowed to ignore the law."

If you agree with the way that Nancy Pelosi and Company deal with illegal immigration, then you'll find the way that Rudy Giuliani tackles the issue to be right down your alley.

I used to give a lot to the NRA and its affiliates (I am an Endowment Member) but I quit when they made some really stupid moves here in Maryland as to who they endorsed and who they refused to endorse. In some cases, they refused to support an "A-" candidate when the opponent was a "D-" and in others they they supported a lower rated candidate apparently because he was the incumbent.

My advice to you my FRiend is to hand out your contributions yourself to candidates you support and not rely on someone else's judgment.

"If Rudy is the nominee, the money I usually contribute to the Republican Party will all go to the NRA. If Rudy convinces them he deserves it, maybe they'll give him some. I hope that's all the support he'll need."

Donate your money as you see fit.

"If Republicans unenthusiastically acquiesce, and the 'Rats turn out as usual, you get a repeat of 2006. (and Hillary/Obama/some other Maxist totalitarian to be named later.)"

Anyone who is unenthusiastic about defeating those scumbags should vote for them. They are no better.

He favored anti-gun policies, he favored making NYC a 'sanctuary' for illegal aliens, he is a public adulterer and a liar. He supports every kind of abortion. He is a liberal.

Legally? And how come the right to own them for newcomers is gone? What makes NYC safer without allowing law abiding citizens to own guns? Every report I have read where gun rights have been reinstated have shown reduced crime. Also, crime rates decreased nationwide at the same time they did in NYC, so how does rudy get all the credit?

What's bothersome about the Rudy threads is the paucity of reasoned debate.

Maybe you're just a far right wing extremist which would explain why you think someone right of center is liberal.

Oh, you like quotes?

Here's a few for you:

To: concerned about politics
Well, it's our job to make sure that McCaine does NOT win the nomination and also that NO Democrat takes the presidency. No one said it'd be easy. But we will need 50,000,000 to 60,000,000 voters all pulling the same lever to keep the RAT out. No third party will be able to accomplish those kind of numbers and sitting at home for damn sure will NOT get the job done. Best be reconciling yourself to fight for freedom or surrender to the RATs. There are no other options.

To: Carry_Okie

Well, there is the Republican party with some conservative members and some not so conservative and then there's the evil Marxist liberal socialist Democrat Party. I'd rather have a conservative Republican in office, but I'll take a not so conservative Republican over any evil Marxist liberal socialist Democrat any day of the week. And I might express my unhappiness with some of his policies but I think I've learned my lesson about irreversibly trashing the Republican office holder or the Republican base or the party itself (at least not too much trashing). As they say, the alternative is unthinkable.

We're all conservatives here. We support our country, support our president, support our military, support our constitution and support our traditional American values. Thank God for America! Down with tyranny and tyrants the world over! Thank God for Liberty!
