The Candidate (Rudy Giuliani in NH)
The American Spectator ^ | 1/29/2007 | Philip Klein

Posted on 01/29/2007 1:36:27 PM PST by Dark Skies

Many skeptics continue to question whether Rudy Giuliani is serious about making a run for the White House, but it was abundantly clear on Saturday that he had come to Manchester for more than the sub-freezing temperatures.

Addressing over 500 activists at the New Hampshire Republican Party's annual meeting as part of a two-day swing through the state, Giuliani sketched the broad outlines of what looks like a presidential run. Sounding at times like a motivational speaker, Giuliani cautioned against cynicism and pessimism in the wake of November's election results and challenges in the ongoing War on Terror. The message especially resonated with the audience in this critical primary state, where the Republican Party just lost control of both chambers of the legislature for the first time since the 1870s.

"The best way we remain safe and we retain our freedom...is remaining on offense, remaining strong and not becoming weak in a time of pressure," Giuliani said in a line that drew the biggest applause from the crowd at the Palace Theater.

There has never been a discussion.

If you don't support Rudy - what on earth are you doing on a Rudy thread?

I like Bernie Kerik, I thought he did a good job in NYC.

Although housing the entire emergency services headquarters in the Twin Towers was a stupid decision, as so many people argued at the time...

This is not an issue. Do you thing a seasoned DA would miss this if it weren't hidden from him?

Come on DB...get back on point!

But you are wrong!

Exactly what am I wrong about?

Rudy pushed Kerik to be head of DHS.

Bush took his advice.

Kerik had corruption problems so bad that it only took the media a few days to send him spiraling into the ground.

And somehow Rudy missed all those problems.

And caused Bush possibly his greatest embarassment as President.

And it showed just how serious Rudy was about the WOT. He'd rather have a crony than a competent leader as head of DHS.

No, that is "midtown." Downtown is around Wall Street, at the base of the island, where the city began.

OK. Got it. Park Avenue South is in "midtown". Thanks for the info. I guess Chelsea isn't qualified to be President.

It took the media, what - less than a week - to auger Kerik's nomination into the ground.

Yet Rudy was OBLIVIOUS to Kerik's ethical issues.

Maybe Rudy has a bridge to sell you. You obviously are gullible enough to buy it.

Gee, I didn't realize that only Rudy boosters are allowed on Rudy threads.

Perhaps we can get a clarification from the moderators, since I have not seen that rule promulgated.

Haven't you even made a mistake of trust? This ain't the frikken Navy or USMC, this is city management.

The CIA doesn't report to you. You trust performance. You have a job to do.

If he is the winner of the primary against Hitliary, I will pray that God show me the right thing to do.

If it's to vote for Rudy, I will. If it's to vote for another, I will.

I see both sides, but I can see where the "strategery" of voting for someone who's principles you don't agree with, to achieve a greater good, sometimes bring one so abaft of their original principles that there is no conceiveable difference bewtween what you supported and what you were against.

Such may be the case with Rudy.

It is the implication of what it is; which it isn't and if anyone here suffers from hallucinations, that would be you!

"Just wait...you'll see."

So, we should vote for him on faith, then....

"The troops want to win. You put forth some little "conservative" that can't win and leave the troops hanging..."

The troops want to win. What makes you think Rudy is competent to lead them? We aren't fighting this war to win at the political level as it is! What makes you think a more liberal politician is the answer? If anything, his legal background would likely lead him to treat this as a "law enforcement" exercise, not a war. Perhaps not, but there's more evidence for that statement than your statement.

"You'll see who they support when they come for YOU."

When who comes for him?

Except that Rudy pushed Kerik not for another city job, BUT FOR THE PRIMARY ANTI-TERRORISM JOB IN THIS COUNTRY.

I would think Rudy WOULD HAVE FRIGGIN' GIVEN HIS BUSINESS ASSOCIATE A BIT MORE SCRUTINY FOR THAT JOB IF HE REALLY GAVE A CRAP ABOUT DEFENDING THIS COUNTRY.

you are spreading dirt on the one chance that the West has against islamofascism.

Stunning. Rudy is the only one who can save us.

You are truly deranged to think that.

It is the implication of what it is;

There's NO implication. It is a well-formatted table I created that accurately compares Giuliani's views on issues important enough to Republicans to be included in the Party Platform with that platform and with Hillary Clinton's views. You keep complaining that I created it, but you can't seem to argue a single point about its content.
