WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Vice President Dick Cheney's pregnant lesbian daughter Mary will make a "fine mom," President George W. Bush said, sidestepping his past comment that a child ideally would be raised by a mother and father.
Mary Cheney, 37, and her longtime partner, Heather Poe, are expecting their first child, which would be the sixth grandchild for the vice president. Cheney was hired last year as an executive for America Online.
"I think Mary is going to be a loving soul to her child. And I'm happy for her," Bush said in an interview with People magazine.
Being patronized, btw, is ALWAYS the choice of the person claiming to be "patronized". I have not been patronizing to you.
Please tell me how you're going to word your new law and how you're going to enforce it? I agree the government shouldn't pay for artificial conception for someone who can't support the kid (or for anyone else for that matter) but if their insurance covers it how are you going to prevent it from happening? Personally I think Norplant/BTL/some form of provable, demonstrable provable birth control should be mandatory (and I'd help pay for the birth control) for receipt of any ADC/food stamps. That would at least make women perhaps a little more responsible about how many kids they have that they can't afford. Make people more personally responsible for their actions and a lot of moral issues would be solved without having to outlaw them.
Geesh ... did you pay $80,000 or more for a college education that left you that derelict in history? If so you wuz robbed.
Let me remind you of your comment, "Yes, women could and did own property and inherit wealth. I regret to see the PC schooling recent generations have afflicted you with." That comment, my dear friend, is inaccurate, patronizing, and a crime against the English language.
Excellent! Look how well ridicule has worked with John Kerry and ManBearPig ;-). BTW, Lakeshore Drive is beautiful - not as pretty as Kamehameha Highway up the windward side of Oahu but not without its charms (I grew up around the tip of the lake in SW Michigan so we got over to Chicago quite a bit).
Sure glad I'm not in your family. I'm thrilled my biological mother had an "illegitimate" child. My sister feels the same way about her biological mother. My REAL parents, who have taken care of me since I was 3 weeks old, have always reminded us that we could have been aborted and that no matter how we come to feel about our biological parents to remember what might have been, and thank them.
Yes - Jefferson, the gentleman of the enlightenment that he was, lowered the penalty for sodomy in VA from execution to castration, and, IIRC, confiscation of personal property and banishment.
Yes, me too. I'm for kids learning to read, write, add and subtract, to think, to participate in athletics (excercise), music, arts, literature, history and especially the understanding of the US government, Constitution and how it works. Probably I've left something out :-)
I agree with you that the behavior of the religous right on this and other threads is obnoxious. It is truly sad that they have no idea how much harm they are doing to their own cause.
Americans do not like self-righteous types preaching to them. It NEVER works!
Notice their standard talking points lately - anyone who espouses moral principles is akin to the Taliban or Islamofascists.
I wonder where they get these talking points from.
So, you never answered. Are you opposed to the idea of love as the supreme commandment?
Not long ago, doctors could refuse to impregnate single women or lesbians. They were within their legal rights to refuse. Now, with law changes due to "gay rights", they cannot do so. Laws may be different in different states, or it may be a fed thing.
But the point is that such practices have been forced to be permitted due to law which is fuelled by the homosexual rights crowd.
I'll gladly change that to Pharisees if you wish.
Chicago's Christmas decor is wonderful. Definitely one of my favorite cities. I'd have a hard time finding enough clothes to spend more than a day or two there this time of year, though ;-).
SS, since you refuse to read the Gay Manifesto I posted links to repeatedly, nor comment on it, I will say this only:
Real love is based on truth. If I love someone, and I am mandated, as are all souls, by God to love all His creatures, then I am also mandated by that love to do good to them.
Doing good means telling the truth, even if that truth is unpalatable. The truth is that homosexual acts are unhealthy, unnatural, and by the standards of every religion in the world, immoral. Homosexual attraction can in many cases by cured, it is not an immutable, unchangeable condition like race, sex, or skin color.
If I love someone, and he is about to run off a cliff, is it love to say nothing, or encourage him to keep going in the same direction?
Now, when are you going to comment on the Gay Manifesto?
Since you bring up Pharisees, I assume you are saying that Jesus would condone homosexuality??
Anyway, I gotta get off of FR and do other stuff.
What blows my mind is that no one opposing my viewpoints will ever discuss facts or debate without using straw man, name calling, hyperbole as though it were fact, or other like tactics. No one will debate facts.
Oh well, carry on.
Where are your comments on the writings of John Locke, John Stuart Mill and Thomas Paine that were posted here for you to read?
No, I'm not saying Christ condones it. What I'm saying is that he really didn't care for others judging someone's heart. If you will check the record, he didn't call for fire and brimstone to destroy the woman caught in adultery or the Samaritan woman at the well with 5 husbands. He didn't run to the religious councils or Pilate to try to get said practices banned.
But he lowered it...blame Jefferson for starting us down that homo slippery slope!!!
BWAHAHAHAHA!!!!!
The intelligent gay rights activists understand that by prodding the religious right into demanding laws that target homosexual behavior, they are building up a case in their search for protected class status in the Courts.
