WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Vice President Dick Cheney's pregnant lesbian daughter Mary will make a "fine mom," President George W. Bush said, sidestepping his past comment that a child ideally would be raised by a mother and father.
Mary Cheney, 37, and her longtime partner, Heather Poe, are expecting their first child, which would be the sixth grandchild for the vice president. Cheney was hired last year as an executive for America Online.
"I think Mary is going to be a loving soul to her child. And I'm happy for her," Bush said in an interview with People magazine.
I'm not "pressed for time." I just pick and choose what and when I want to do something.
Frankly, I love watching you Holier-Than-Thou types do your thing.
And while I'm watching, I wonder how perfect your life is that you feel you're in any position at all to lecture others.
That a child should be raised by a mother and father.
Bush has said this, more than once.
Do you expect him to say he's not happy this child is going to be born?
Not true.
Bush has never "withered" when defending the institution of marriage, and opposing gay marriage.
He clearly said that he thinks a child should have both a mother and a father.
Such as When to Stone Your Children. or When to Stone Your Whole Family , or maybe how to conduct yourself as a proper master of your slaves?
Did you follow this law and if it does not apply to you do you agree with it?
What if my sister in law and I do not want to marry each other? Are we violating your "values?" What if I already have a wife?
I know what your views are on religious tolerance from this Godly decree. Harsh.
Whatever you do...Leviticus 19:27-28 says
27:Ye shall not round the corners of your heads, neither shalt thou mar the corners of thy beard.
How many stories like this have inspired your "values?"
And these are just a few off the top of my head. There are many more such exanples. Would you like to see?
If there's anyone more annoying than someone who has to be dragged into a direct answer, instead of quoting from the Bible, it's someone who does the above and has a short attention-span. I refer you to your comment #58. I gave you a number of chances to answer--I'm through wasting my time here.
.
You can start by answering the questions posted prior.
I have a funny image in my mind of you at my dinner party being taunted by a bunch of drunken Irish.
Gays who shack up can make babies now?
Whoa.
I guess I'm the odd ball in this nation; I just don't understand this fatherless type of liberalism.
If it's okay with God, I guess I'll just shut my mouth.
As long as they don't kick him in the "stones" he will be all right.
But George W is the Commander in Chief, and we all tune our instruments to his pitch pipe. If he says this is GOOD, then it must be good for everyone....

Did he really say that? I am pretty sure he said that she will make a good mom. That is not the same as saying that the situation that is producing this child is good. Also, he is not saying that he is happy about the whole situation. He merely says that he is happy for her. You and I both know that there are oodles or reporters trying to get him and other GOP figures to say something negative about Miss Cheney.
If Mary Cheney was a little less self-centered perhaps she would not have put her parents into such a situation. But what can Mr. and Mrs. Cheney or the President do except put a good face on it?
At least until your posts start making sense.
You seem to be putting words in his mouth. He didn't say it was good. He said the polite thing you say to someone having a child, that you are happy for them, and said she would be "a fine mom". That's hardly an ecstatic endorsement of gay parenthood. He said a very few words about it, and was simply polite.
He has previously said a child should be raised by a mother and father. Wishing Mary Cheney well is not an indication he has changed his view on that.
Whose is the father? I've like Mary Cheney, but I agree children have hard enough time in today's world. If it's a boy I feel sincerely sorry that he will not have a father for a role model.
God Bless this child.
So your point is a non-point. It proves nothing. Fact is, Mary Cheney is pregnant by a man, not a woman. The baby has a father. With the child being raised in a homosexual home, it is a given the child will be taught that homosexuality is normal. He/she will be told he has two mommies -- IMPOSSIBLE! You don't need a Bible to know that no child has two mommies. Yet the insanity of progressivism (values derived from a source you approve of I assume) has led to some states issuing birth certificates that indicate a child has two parents of the same sex. Ludicrous! Can we at least keep a grip on reality? Come to think of it, I wonder how this baby's birth certificate will read.
Are you suggesting that the law should force people to be silent about homosexuals raising children? Should the law force people to deny reality -- the child has a mother and a father, not two mommies? Shall the law force all children to be taught lies about family? There is a reality about human babies: every one that has ever been born has had one mother and one father. Period! In fact, Mary Cheney has a mother and a father as does Heather Poe. That's an inescapable truth about all human beings. Our DNA is a testimony to the normalcy of heterosexuality -- every last one of us. So it is perfectly reasonable to think that children should be raised with a clear sense of reality even if you so loathe the idea of morality that you deny it has any bearing on our sexual behavior. Children are the product of heterosexuality! They need a mother and a father to exist and that is the way they should be nurtured.
