WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Vice President Dick Cheney's pregnant lesbian daughter Mary will make a "fine mom," President George W. Bush said, sidestepping his past comment that a child ideally would be raised by a mother and father.
Mary Cheney, 37, and her longtime partner, Heather Poe, are expecting their first child, which would be the sixth grandchild for the vice president. Cheney was hired last year as an executive for America Online.
"I think Mary is going to be a loving soul to her child. And I'm happy for her," Bush said in an interview with People magazine.
Ya know Im smart enough most of the time to avoid these kinds of arguments on these kinds of threads...and I am content to simply watch you and others do battle ....my hats off to ya
no...just kidding
I would have said nothing...and privately would just pray against the sickness that is spreading in our nation. I guess I'm not "compassionte conservative" enough.
If these two people love the child, and provide a warm and nurturing home I will be satisfied. There are plenty of traditional homes that having both a mother and father, have enough love and consideration for their children to put in your eye and have enough room left over for the First, Fifth and Tenth Infantry Divisions of the Chinese army.
If they (the "partners")are happy and the child is loved, happy and well cared for, who am I or anyone else to offer a complaint or interference into the personal affairs of others whose livelihood and maintainance I/we do not contribute to.
There will be no joking about lesbians.

Oh, all right. If you insist. But only because it's the Christmas season. :)
Wagglebee has a tough job, you know.
LOL . . . I half-expect to read that W. should have issued a fatwa.
There will be no joking about lesbians.
Says the guy who wants to throw WOOD on the fire!
Now you're asking for it.
You just didn't like what I said. The truth hurts when you are trying so hard to rebel against it.
I agree, funny lesbians are hard to come by...
G.W. is no conservative... but I can't bring myself to get up-in-arms about this. It's not like Mary Cheney has been making a big public spectacle about the matter, so the only reason the press is asking Bush about it is to trip him up somehow. Commenting on the family lives of private citizens is not in the President's job description. So simply wishing them well and changing the subject is the best response.
wood and lesbians dont mix
Tallulah Bankhead was pretty funny, but she was bisexual.
What's heartless is raising a child to think homosexuality is normal and good. Funny how you can target one thing and not another.
"If you met Mary Cheney at a party are you gonna tell her that?"Just our of curiousity, what kind of "calling" is necessary to be rude and disrespectful to another guest at a party, and the host and hostess?Tell her that lesbianism is wrong and sinful, and to bring a baby into a lesbian "marraige" is wrong and harmful to the child?
If I was called to do that I sure would.
"If you met Mary Cheney at a party are you gonna tell her that?"
You would waste that conversation on her sex life? Better to spend the time telling her how badly AOL sucks.
My sister told me this lesbian joke.
a group of office workers was having a party and the lesbian gal was told to bring the snack crackers.
The day of the party comes and she shows up with six more of her lesbian friends.
Her coworkers were a little miffed that she brought along her buddies. When confronted, she loudly defended herself....
"Well wasn't I supposed to bring the.......!!!!!
(I'll let you figure it out!) :P
