Many people in the South ignorantly loathe Mormons, deriding them as "cultists". This from a group of people who still think Bear Bryant is alive and well.

ES, HSW looking for divisions where ever they can? Mormons are some of the most value driven conservatives out there.. even if you don't agree with their religion, you have to respect their heart and mind..

IMHO, we need to quit griping, deal with the reality that we have to find a candidate that represents our values early that can get the media attention and votes.. sorry folks, but it isn't Newt or Tancredo.. at this point, we need another Reagan or Eisenhower.

There is nothing wrong with a Mormon. I do not understand why anyone would care about religion in a political campaign, I thought we got past that hurdle with John Kennedy, and later with Nixon and his Quaker beliefs.

What are you talking about? Everyone would like to think of America as anything but a bunch of Protestants, but that's exactly what we are. Sure, there are a lot of Catholics and then this or that, but we're mostly Protestant and as such consider Mormons a bizarre cult. I'm not speaking for myself specifically, but just pointing out reality.

So a member of a bizarre cult can't be elected President in America. Not even in 2008.
