To: The Republican Party
I am a Christian conservative or social conservative. I am Pro-Life. I vote.
Rudy Giuliani is pro-gay, pro-gun control, and pro-abortion.
For these reasons and others, I state very firmly that I will not vote for Rudy Giuliani for President of the United States under any circumstances.
Senator John McCain has waffled on human cloning, has supported experimentation on human embryos, and has attacked prominent Christian clergy because of the, "evil influence that they exercise." John McCain has said of Pro-Life voters, on a public broadcast radio show, that they are, "otherwise intelligent people who say that that's the only issue that will determine their vote." McCain told the San Francisco Chronicle, "I would not support repeal of Roe v. Wade."
For these reasons and others, I state very firmly that I will not vote for John McCain for President of the United States under any circumstances.
Sincerely,
"So if Mormons were slobs who starved their kids you might like them better?"
Interesting point, I enjoy the wit.
I just don't think a lot of people understand that the Mormons do not come out of an equivalent heritage - theirs is one manufactured in the US starting in the 1820s not starting in the Middle East 2000 years ago. In some ways, it is more akin to Scientology than Christianity. But people never bother to actually read the Mormon texts or do any research, so ignorance is bliss.
Excuse me, but we tried it your way last month. I held my nose and voted straight R and look where it got us!
Suggest you and others of your ilk on this thread try building bridges and consensus with us "holier-than-thou" conservatives instead of doing precisely what you did before November 7th and bringing disaster on us all.
And yes, it's your fault. I watched a whole lotta denial on this forum leading up to the election, and a whole lotta meanspirited vicious crap from FR's very own "moderates." Almost caused me not to vote, but I was too horrified at the possibility of a 'Rat takeover.
Ended up with it anyway.
I wouldn't vote for him because he is fraud and a nut case who only cares about hearing himself talk
"Boy oh boy. That settles it. Your experience with Mormons really makes me dislike Romney. /s. "
So, you've extensively researched Mormonism too? Wow, I'm impressed.
You reject my real world experience and research and substitute what? A donut holes worth of thought? Oh yeah, your argument has convinced me Romney is the chosen one. /s
I respect and agree with your positions, but as a Republican I feel like the last living defender of the Alamo. Barring Divine intervention over Iraq, we are going to lose in 2008, and we may lose massively. Most Republicans believe in national security and limiting taxes. If choose to make our stand on social issues, not only will we be unsuccessful, but we'll elect a boatload of Democrats, ensuring a weak defense and high taxes as well as abortion on demand.
Nancee
So you don't like Mormons because of their religious beliefs?
I'm catholic .. and I'll betcha there are a few that feel the same about my faith
I blieve your "real world" experience, but it wouldn't rule out Romney for me. I've known Mormons too, and I have never met one I didn't like.
Governed as a Liberal? Romney?
Did you know that in the last 30 days:
1)He has signed an agreement with the Feds to have Mass highway patrol troopers pick up illegal aliens, an agreement he has been working on over a year?
2)He has sued the Democrat liberal legislature to put a voter initiative on the 2008 ballot defining marriage to be between a man and a women only?
The Mass supreme court will convene on Dec 20th to decide whether to force the legislature to vote on matter #2 when they return from recess on Jan 2.
Nobody is perfect, but I encourage you to follow his campaign. We have over a year to go before SC, NH, and IA.
Oh, and Merry Christmas.
I may or may not be around much the next few days. I am still recovering from my corneal transplant operation two weeks ago so I'm a bit limited in the posts I can participate in. I only work on the ones that I think matter. I have a regular thread I hope to post early tomorrow, so responding to anything from you is way down on my priority list (Oh.... I deserve to burn in hell for that one... you do realize I was joking... don't you? Please realize that the merry Christmas was not a joke? The best to you and yours, regardless of whether we ever agree)
(This image is not mine. I don't want to appear to be taking credit for it.)
For the record, I admire Rudy, and his skills and judgment, and abilities in the public square as an effective advocate, and agree with him on most matters. So the choice is easy for me.
Carry on.
Duncan Hunter, Mike Pence, Tom Tancredo would make a very good, informative, and helpful primary season. Sam Brownback could helpfully pile on. Newt could speak, but no one should vote for him. I don't know where Tommy Franks is on issues, but it was an interesting suggestion.
But a bottom line here is that Tancredo has national visibility and credibility on the existential-peril issue. He has been *doing things* to try to actually save the country from getting wiped out. And that, along with the popularity its brought him, is a major, major selling point.
Tah dah! GOOD, accurate answer!
That goes without saying.
