Gray, my friend, I think the person you spoke with was misinformed. I know for a fact that funds have been set up in the past to help defray medical costs for a member or members of the Amish community.
I know it was done in Dover a few years ago when a drunk driver hit an Amish buggy and fled the scene, leaving 3 teenagers with injuries to fend for themselves. One of those young men is now wheelchair bound and the bills were astronomical. I know I contributed to that fund.

That is not true. This would be, like other things that fall into Amish life, the will of God.
