Hostage situation may be developing.

Not many details available yet, but an incident has been reported from Mine Rd. in Bart Township in Lancaster County involving multiple gunshot victims. Dennis Buterbaugh reports live from our newsroom. abc27 has a news crew on the way. We will update with details as they become available.
Update 2: Pennsylvania Police: Amish School is 'Horrendous Crime Scene' After Shooting
NICKEL MINES, Pa. — At least two female students and one slightly older female — who may have been a teacher's aide — were shot and killed execution style in what police say may be a revenge killing for something that happened 20 years ago.
State Police Commissioner Jeffrey Miller said Monday that truck driver Charles Carl Roberts IV entered the one-room Amish schoolhouse in earlier in the day. The gunman brought in pieces of wood to board up the doors to the building when he entered the school. He also stacked desks against the building's doors.
"It appears that the suspect entered school with the intention of taking hostages," Miller said.
Roberts had wire ties and plastic flex cuff, which he used to begin tying the hostages feet together after they were lined up along a blackboard. He let go 15 male students, as well as one adult female who was pregnant. Three other non-student females with infants were also allowed to leave. One shotgun and one handgun was found next to the suspect when police entered the building.
"It seems as though he wanted to attack young, female victims," Miller said.
After a half hour inside, Roberts began shooting. When the gunfire stopped, three females were found shot dead at the scene, along with the suspect, who shot himself, Miller said. At least seven more victims — some critically wounded — were transported to nearby hospitals, he said. One victim, a young girl, died in the arms of a trooper, Miller said. He could not confirm how many people died en route or at the hospital. The county coroner earlier reported six children killed but then backed off of that statement.
I'm watching Fox as well, and you're wrong... He did NOT say that.. He said that the police heard rapid fire from what they feel was the automatic weapon he had... THAT was when they went in...
We're not allowed to KILL them any more, if they're deemed "crazy".
I don't give a rip whether they're "crazy" or not, they killed and they should get the rope.

Having lived in that area, I am aware of that. My comment was made early in the thread before it was clearly stated where it happened.
Absolutely. I agree. They will have "in depth" studies into the Amish lifestyle and snarkily insinuate that they brought it on themselves by their private lifestyle. They will hint at turning the Amish schools over to the federal government, etc... etc...etc ad nauseum.
I live in Amish country, Milroy, PA near State College. Amish cannot use electronics such as telephones. You will find no computers, TVs or telephones. Their business' can use cell phones.
Amish views on possession of firearms varies from sect to sect.
The teacher was the one who called 911 from a neighboring farm house at 10:36. Police were on the scene at 10:45. The shooting started just before 11, while the negotiator was trying to get the gunman on his cell phone.
He brought 2x4's and 2x6's to barricade the doors. He piled desks in front of the doors.
The boys were told to leave. He TIED the girls using either wire ties or flexcuffs and lined them up in front of the blackboard.
He then executed them!
I know that there is no answer, but why are there these people out there intent on harming little girls? Amish girls? Only a TRUE COWARD could commit such and act. Mentally ill or not, this man defines the word COWARD, and so do far too many like him.
Because these slimeballs might well be testing response and probing our defenses. Today's may have been a copycat of the CO shooting or may have been following the same script, written by....?
And if AQ didn't realize what soft and high-value targets our schools are before, they do now.
Sorry Revel. That is not what I heard on the FOX news that I listened to. Perhaps you have a different Fox local coverage that is reporting inaccurate information.

Well We have the shooting last week. And the gunman did not start shooting then until they stormed the building. Granted that he was abusing the children, and that is of great concern. But I would rather my children were returned to me abused rather than expired. I am not saying that the gunman in either case would not have shot the children anyways. They very well might have. But we will never know.
That's very important to know
I prefer it when they give a reason first (like in a note), and then kill themselves during the process. That way, not only do we avoid having to do 20-some years of death row, but we also know the motive. Fortunately, that did happen here, so we know that it had something to do with a thing that happened to him 20 years ago. In other words, he was a nutcase with a grudge.
The cops had barely arrived when the gunman told them to retreat. And then only a few seconds later he started shooting.
You are completely off-base here and I would hope you stop this.
