The following is the complete text of Mel Gibson's statement regarding his arrest for investigation of driving under the influence of alcohol:
"After drinking alcohol on Thursday night, I did a number of things that were very wrong and for which I am ashamed. I drove a car when I should not have, and was stopped by the L.A. County sheriffs. The arresting officer was just doing his job and I feel fortunate that I was apprehended before I caused injury to any other person.
"I acted like a person completely out of control when I was arrested, and said things that I do not believe to be true and which are despicable. I am deeply ashamed of everything I said.
"Also, I take this opportunity to apologize to the deputies involved for my belligerent behavior. They have always been there for me in my community and indeed probably saved me from myself. I disgraced myself and my family with my behavior and for that I am truly sorry.
"I have battled the disease of alcoholism for all of my adult life and profoundly regret my horrific relapse. I apologize for any behavior unbecoming of me in my inebriated state and have already taken necessary steps to ensure my return to health."
I don't know...we'll see...the MSM is between a rock and a hard place on this one.
Wise words. Thanks for posting them.
Amen to everything you said.
Yesterday, I posted that I stilled loved Mel Gibson, because he explained that he used the shot of his own hands when they filmed the spikes being drivin into Christ because Gibson believe his sins (and all our sins) crucified Him.
I also posted that God disciplines those He loves.
I have to say that I don't care if Gibson was drunk or not. To say such hateful things about the Jews (the apple of God's eye) is despicable.
I'll forgive him eventually. I don't think a lot of people will.
Stay in Christ, and He will abide in you, and in me brother.
Take care.

Yeah, outright old-school anti-semitism is the same exact thing as questioning global warming, racial quotas, illegal immigration, etc....
(That was sarcasm, in case you couldn't tell.)
Just saying "I'm sorry" doesn't mean anything. What is he sorry for...saying it? Is he sorry for thinking it? What exactly is he sorry for? That's what he thinks...and honestly, if he thinks like that, he shouldn't apologize. But it's my right to say I hope he goes to hell.
Simply not so. Nothing in any of the Gospels in any way discredits Jews as such. It's the Pharacees that the Lord denounced for their hypocrisy, not the people in general.
My experience is that one is too many, and a thousand is never enough.
I feel no mercy for anti-semites.
And I sure don't feel sorry for Mel, with his millions. I regard him as I do all anti-semites. As scum.
Considering what we know about his father, it's clear his hatred of Jews runs deep. Quite an actor, to mask this so well in Hollywood.
Hildy, I may not agree with you....but I love you---I'm so very sorry you had relatives in the Holocaust.....dear mercy.
But I personally think Mel will have a hard time gettting over this....both with his family and the public.
Nothing we say can add to his discomfort and regret.
I still appreciate much he has done....
...And I still don't think he could have made one scene from The Passion..if he was an anti-Semite.
Did you read my other posts to you?
We're in the smoky backroom.
You can leave if you want.
Thank you for your kind thoughts...but...I have to disagree with you. The movie is not a Jew-friendly movie. Of course, the story IS the story...but I don't see how Mr. Gibson's thoughts about Jews can be gleemed from the movie except in a negative fashion.
Not so far. LOL...
..I was helping nail those hands to the cross as well....
I don't mean antisemitic I mean anti-Jewish, against those who are of the Jewish faith. Jesus was against the hypocrisy of the Pharisees of course..fine...good. What I don't understand is why Jesus or anyone else would expect that a body of people who had believed for 5 thousand years (or however many thousand of years) that there was only one all transcendent God who could not be embodied even in a statue, could just overnight start to believe God had a son in human flesh. To the Jews that was blasphemy. I don't think I would have become a Christian if I had even seen Jesus myself and seen his miracles. The or now had I been a Jew and believed with all my heart that to be a remain a Jews was what God wanted of me I would be bound in conscience to remain a Jew. The fact that I am a Christian is luck and by the grace of God. I was raised Christian. Had I been raised Jewish I would in all probablity be Jewish now. I don't change that easily.
......your rhetoric of "jew hating moron" is totally uncalled for.....do you take lessons from Daily Kos?
