Coulter vs Darwin
Godless | 06/06 | Ann Coulter

Posted on 06/09/2006 6:16:57 AM PDT by tomzz

You can't help but notice that there is a very vocal sort of a little clique of evolutionists on FreeRepublic, and there has always been a question in a lot of people's minds as to whether or not the theory of evolution is in any way compatible with conservatism.

This new book ("Godless") of Ann Coulter's should pretty much settle the issue.

Ann does not mince words, and she has quite a lot to say about evolution:

"Liberals' creation myth is Charles Darwin's theory of evolution, which is about one notch above scientology in scientific rigor. It's a make-believe story, based on a theory which is a tautology, with no proof in the scientists laboratory or the fossil record, and that's after 150 years of very determined looking. We wouldn't still be talking about it but for the fact that liberals think evolution disproves God....

It gets better from there, in fact a lot better. Ann provides a context for viewing the liberal efforts to shut down everything resembling debate on the subject in courtrooms and makes a general case that it is the left and not the right, which is antithetical to science in general. Anybody interested in this question of American society and the so-called theory of evolution should have a copy of this book

Hey, restornu -- if'n ya wanna hang around these threads, you might consider wearing a hood on your head, with one eye hole. That way we can chase you around and make you keep shouting at us, "I am not a creationist."

What fun that will be.

You could be close I a dyslexic and at times have visual trouble when my eyes have trouble holding focus!

Hey somedays are better than others and I am still breathing and can be amusement for others!

Ah, thanks for the 'almagest' definitions...for some reason, I just thought that 'alma' was the posters first name, and 'gest' the last name...

But in reality what you are now calling "science education" is being challenged as to wheteher or not it is science

The challenges are invariably non-scientific by folks who dont even understand the basics of the science.

Coulter's incoherent ramblings on evolution in her latest book is a prime example of this.

That is quite interesting, how you got your screenname...

My younger son was terribly interested in astonomy, and still is...but when he went to college, he decided that since there are so few jobs in astronomy, he decided to get his AppliedPhysicsEngineering degree instead....when he graduated from college, there was one, just one person, getting their degree in astronomy...and this was a big university...so my son pursues astronomy as a hobby, rather than a career..

That is your opinion, but millions of people buying the book and applauding her for bravely pointing out that the Darwin emperor wears no clothes are not in agreement. The age of Darwin has come to a close and not with a big bang, but with a whipping.

Most of them can't read. That's why they put her picture on the cover. There has to be something for her average purchaser.

"I'm learning all kinds of new dirty words from our "Christian" participants. LOL!"

It seems to me you are gloating at the fact that Christians are sinners along with everyone else. We loose our tempers, say things we shouldn't and try to improve. But the fact is, as a human sinner we never are able to achieve perfection. That is the whole reason for Christ. He did it for us. To expect Christians to be any less human than any one else, negates Christ Himself and His purpose.

Thanks for letting me know that...I made the mistake of thinking that 'elsie' was a lady, and shocked to find out the 'elsie' was a man...I guess the 'elsie' was a name made up from the letter from his name 'L'and 'C'...since that revelation, I have tried not to actually guess which gender the posters are...

A person does not buy a book when they can not read. There are elitists in this country who think Americans are stupid people and make derogatory comments about them. I think they do it to make themselves feel better as they really are not any great shakes themselves.

I started out as a physics major -- but then, in one of many mistakes in my life, I switched to history, and minored in physics. I love history -- but I think I should have stayed with science.

I have homeschooled all my kids all the way through -- well, my wife and I have. Now that I am disabled and retired, I am the "Mr. Mom" and our seven-yr-old's main teacher. He is already as obsessed with astronomy as I am.

Every morning when we get up, he insists that we begin the day by looking at the "Astronomy Picture of the Day." We have saved hundreds of them, and we go through all of them every day. He identifies as many as he can without looking. How many other 7-yr-olds do you know who can identify about 2/3 of the Messier objects by number and name?!

After we do that -- we go to the NASA channel on the internet. He checks that one several times a day -- and while a lot of the talk goes over his head, he is absorbing amazing amounts of great stuff. Last Christmas -- at age SEVEN -- he corrected my brother's error on "planetary nebulae."

Yeah, I'm bragging. Sorry.

No. Just Coulter fans. The vast majority of Americans will not buy this book, and I'm sure the vast majority of Americans agree with me that Coulter is a shrill, nasty lunatic.

but millions of people buying the book and applauding her for bravely pointing out that the Darwin emperor wears no clothes are not in agreement.

Millions of people also go to see Michael Moore films and applaud him for his "bravery" for exposing the "evil republican agenda". When it comes to evolution, Coulter doesnt have the slightest idea what she is talking about.

The age of Darwin has come to a close and not with a big bang, but with a whipping.

*sigh*

People have been saying this for the last 150 years, yet the theory is only strengthed by the data that keeps coming in. These statements are clearly made out of fear and not in the least based upon any scientific merit.

So here we are again my friend. It all comes down to weak faith if one sees evolution as such a great threat to one's beliefs.

Not at all. As I said -- I was shocked at the behavior. The gloating is coming from them, not from me. I can point to several posts that seem to be gloating over the "fact" that we are all going to be burning in hell forever and forever and forever.

I once made the remark that, IMO, preaching on hell without weeping in compassion was just not a good idea. I got reamed for even saying that! Hahaha!

"Kiss Hank's feet--and he'll give you a million dollars. Refuse -- and Hank'll beat the snot out of you forever. And we will all enjoy watching that!"

Coulter is little more than shrill propaganda (at times entertaining).

Cmon, you really think she knows anything about science?
