Anyone taping the performances? I was wondering if Kat's second song SOTR was longer than the other contestants.

Off topic, but I never liked the song until I heard Eric Clapton perform it with an accoustic guitar--just beautiful.

Frankly, I was surprised it was voted the #1 song of the 20th Century both here and in the UK. The 20th Century may very well have been the golden age for pop songwriters, and there were so many great songs. It's hard to pick a #1, but somehow Over The Rainbow falls short for me even though I like the song.

Well...the East coast lines are done. This household got around 80 - 100 votes in for Elliott.

Dial Idol has him on the bottom but it's almost too close to call. The "left coast" seems to favor Kat but you never know.

BTW...I posted this before but I think Dial Idol could be off this week. Each contestant had 3 numbers but DI posted only 2. If the third number for Elliott is better that Kat's 3rd....well...it's going to be close no matter what.

Don't worry, I've voted about 60 times for him so far - and it's only 830pm here! I'll keep voting until the phones shut off...or until I fall asleep. :-)

Did you ever think this thread was going to be so much fun!

Nope :)

It started as such a small thing. Mystery, Emily, twin2 and I were yacking about it on another thread and Mystery suggested that I start a separate Idol thread ... I didn't want to. I thought it would flop. Shows what I know :)

I haven't really heard her sing a song where she didn't forget the words, she got behind/ahead of the music...or screeched during parts.

I was just telling my husband about her screeching...it literally makes me cringe - if she wasn't so pretty, she would have never gotten this far!!

that she hated McPhee's third song and wished she had picked a song more in line with SOTR. McPhee seems to do better with those types of tunes.

Paula often makes more sense than we give her credit for, and I agree with her here. McPhee needs smooth songs with a relatively narrow range, if we can judge by what she's done on the show this season. I just hear Clive Davis say she's got a big range, but where the heck is it. She must leave it in rehearsal hall, because we've never heard it on the air.

Like I said, its probably a local problem. Really, I think they want everyone to use text voting anyway. Maybe none of us will be able to get through at all next year! LOL

Kinda like the Apprentice Thread...it got 33 posts and died after a short life. This year the show is totally unwatchable!

But, jonny, you have to admit that Simon couldn't have telegraphed how he wants the voting to go any better than he did, short of saying that he want Kat to win, and Taylor second..and NO one better even think of putting Elliot in the finals...

I honestly don't think Simon wants McPhee to win. He was fully expecting her to be voted off last week and told her so.

Elliot--I like the guy--but he sang three dull songs tonight and tried to sing them too hard.

Agreeing with Simon, Over the Rainbow was the best Kathrine's done. The money people would be much better off with her as Idol rather than Taylor or Elliot, as she can, with additional training and a sort of personality boot camp, learn to be a pop singer with staying power.

Elliot will have a Las Vegas career.

Hicks? He has personality. But what a tinny little voice he has....This Gun for Hire sounded like This Peashooter for Hire. IMO, of course.
