I think that song could use a little less orchestra and a little less back up singers.

May 25, 2006
She stole the hearts of millions of Americans with her beautiful voice and her gorgeous looks, but has one certain guy caught a special case of McFeever?
"Extra" spotted a young man with Katharine's parents in the "Idol" audience. This was the same guy who gave her a big hug in a previous "Idol" homecoming clip.
So is this Katharine's special guy?
Yes -- "It's my boyfriend," Katharine confirmed. "We've been keeping it on the DL. He's the one who brought me to my first audition."
Meanwhile, Katharine revealed that Grammy winner John Mayer did once contact her for date. "He told me he had a crush," McPhee revealed. "And I said, Thank you very much.'"

Stars Large and Small Unite at Idol' Finale
May 25, 2006
It was "American Idol's" biggest night ever. More than 43 million people watched as Taylor Hicks was crowned the new "Idol," and the audience was as jam-packed with stars as ever.
A newly single Heather Locklear chatted with Ben Stiller. The original purple jacket man, Prince, brought down the house with a surprise performance. And Clay Aiken shocked the world with his new do.
One by one, the cream of the music crop shared the stage with "Idol" faces from the past and present.
Over on the "Idol" red carpet, David Boreanaz groomed his 4-year-old son Jaden to be an "Extra" reporter! And Chris Daughtry and wife Deanna did the same thing, taking over the "Extra" mic to interview each other.
"I can't ever make a decision without Deanna," Chris admitted.
Just moments after Ryan Seacrest announced Taylor Hicks the winner, the new "American Idol" came straight to "Extra."
"I did not want the jinx factor working last night," he admitted. "So I was pretty nervous today."
"Let me tell you, his gray hair won him a lot of votes," Simon said of Taylor.
But don't cry for Katharine McPhee just yet. "I feel great," she told "Extra." "I really do. I feel like there's going to be so many great things that are going to come up for me."
Katharine also broke this big news: "Steven Spielberg would like to have a meeting with me. That for me, I think was the thing that really made this last week calming for me. I was just like, Wow, Steven Spielberg would like to have a meeting with me.'"
"I think that that was the moment where I turned to a couple of my close friends who have been through this competition, and I was like, I don't know if winning is the best thing for me,'" Katharine added.

Inside the Final 'American Idol' Showdown
May 23, 2006
Has the country caught McPheever or is America on Soul Patrol? Judge Paula Abdul came to "Extra" to make her "Idol" prediction.
"I think with America's vote, it's probably going to go to Taylor Hicks," she said.
As the final two prepare for the huge showdown, Paula admitted she still wishes Elliott was around. "Even Simon leaned into me and said, 'I wish he made it to the finals because he is what epitomizes the American dream,'" Paula revealed.
While Paula's dream of seeing Elliott in the finale isn't going to happen, "Extra" dug into more finale secrets.
We discovered that Katharine will sing Simon's favorite "Somewhere Over the Rainbow," and Taylor will bring back Elton John's "Levon," which he first performed in February.
"American Idol" producer Ken Warwick said the finalists are rearing up and ready to go. "They're both excited, which is great for them," he said.
So who are the ousted "Idols" rooting for? Before they kick off the "American Idol Live Tour" on July 6, Terri went one on one with Mandisa, Paris and Bucky on the "Extra" set.
While Paris played it safe, saying, "I don't know," a tight-lipped Mandisa revealed, "I know who's going to win, but I'm not going to say because it's not fair to the other person."
But Mandisa and Paula weren't holding out on breaking couples news, as Ms. Abdul revealed she is no longer dating model Dante Spencer. "I'm not settling," Paula said. "So, I'm holding out for the right one."
Meanwhile, Mandisa is hoping to make an "American Idol" catch. "Hopefully Ruben will be there somewhere," she confessed. "America has been looking for an 'American Idol' hookup somewhere, so I figured me and Ruben might as well make it happen."
Before an "Idol" wedding can take place, a new "American Idol" will be crowned. Don't miss all the action, Wednesday night on FOX.

My goodness, the mind fairly reels with possibilities! One envisions a gaggle of roly-poly youngsters with fantastic voices ....
Just got through watching Leno ... and will also keep the "code of silence" in order not to ruin it for others ... but I have to say that when Taylor made that remark about Paula, my jaw just dropped. He seemed oblivious that the remark could be interpreted in a VERY unfavorable light. (OTOH, he's running on no or very little sleep there ... I wonder if he'll watch the playback and say, "Oh my gosh, did I say that?!")
Found your thread right after Idol ended last night. Great job and great people! Please add me to your ping list for next year's show. Thanx.
Been thinking about the judging. Every year we get great new talent. Seems to me we have had enough of the same three judges. Time for some fresh new judges. Not so jaded and so predictable. Getting tired of Simon already. He's worn out his welcome....IMO
I just heard the mp3 of DIMYP and I have to say it sounds surprisingly good. I guess what I meant was, taking him out of his element and making him do songs with a certain flow that do not fit his strengths. Taylor is not a "can sing anything you ask him too" kind of singer. However, if he turns the song, no matter what it is, he could make it work.
He said it himself, he's going to be good on the road touring, and he will pack concert halls, I think he could also do well on studio albums, but he's going to have to make absolutely sure they're of unique "quality" before he releases anything...
10,000...This is america for ya!
10,000...This is America for ya!
for a finalist Kat didn't have a surplus of signature performances, now did she?...
No she didn't! There were at least 4 others who should have stayed in longer than her. She was placed there because of the hound vote, imho.
I doubly hate it when that happens! I tried to quickly capitalize "America" and the post must have unwittingly slipped thru!
I think I'm gonna listen more to Randy and Paula from now on. ;-)
Yes, me too. Simon didn't like Bo or Chris either.
And they admit it to while at the same time trying to pass her off as something special. The amusing this is that these men wouldn't be caught dead listening to her music in the presence of others.
Chris, Elliot...and who? You don't think she has a gorgeous voice? I think she will make it, I just don't know in what capacity? Singer? Movies? Broadway?
The "hound" vote, LOL!
understand from previous posts that he trademarked his name prior to auditioning. He seems like a very savvy guy.
ANd this may be why Simon doesn't like him. :)
