Labeling homosexuality as an "illness," with the intent to strip away rights of the "ill" that others enjoy, may not be deviant, but that agenda is one to which I dissent, and that one IS a loser politically, and more and more so, as time goes on, but whether it is a winner or loser politically, is of small moment to me.

That is one long and obscure sentence.

People who are "ill" need treatment, not enabling of the bad behaviors stemming from the illness. One of the most cruel (and completely politically motivated) things the APAs of this world ever did was to de-list homosexuality from the DSM. So many more people would be able to get help now instead of destroying themselves--all the while listening to crank shrinks telling them that "repressing" their desire to commit deviant sex acts is more harmful than acting on their desires.

Hey, it's made for an endless stream of business for the mental health professions. I've never met a person with homosexual inclinations who wasn't seeing a shrink.

Whatever you call it, my impression is that it is largely incurable. Yes, the gay life style, incurs many costs, medical, and emotional, for so many. Those with an incurable illness, to use that term for purposes of argument, should not be demonized, and deprived of equal rights, or frankly marginalized. They should be assisted by their neighbors to achieve the good life, to the extent it can be, given the loadstar which is their essential being, just like any other neighbor. So says this near atheist.

I try to live my life that way, in the same way that I try to engage each and every poster on this site, with respect, and in constructive dialog, to the best of my ability. Do I fail in that sometimes? You bet! Sometimes temptation, gets the better of me, and I get out the knife and twist it, generally with an effort to do it with some subtlety, because it gives me pleasure. Whatever.
