Whatever you call it, my impression is that it is largely incurable. Yes, the gay life style, incurs many costs, medical, and emotional, for so many. Those with an incurable illness, to use that term for purposes of argument, should not be demonized, and deprived of equal rights, or frankly marginalized. They should be assisted by their neighbors to achieve the good life, to the extent it can be, given the loadstar which is their essential being, just like any other neighbor. So says this near atheist.

I try to live my life that way, in the same way that I try to engage each and every poster on this site, with respect, and in constructive dialog, to the best of my ability. Do I fail in that sometimes? You bet! Sometimes temptation, gets the better of me, and I get out the knife and twist it, generally with an effort to do it with some subtlety, because it gives me pleasure. Whatever.

Regardless of your impression, studies have shown that has cure rates similar to other common psychological problems, like depression, anxiety, addictions, etc. Should we stop treating these problems, then, for the same reason?

Same sex attraction is harmful to the individual. It's harmful to society. It could be successfully treated in many people if not for the political element that blocks such treatment. If you ask me, that is a shame.
