Gay Parents Line Up For White House Easter Egg Roll Tickets

WASHINGTON -- Hundreds of gay and lesbian parents hoping to take their families to the annual White House Easter Egg Roll plan to start lining up Friday evening to make sure they get tickets for the Monday event.

Thousands of tickets — an estimated 16,000 last year — are given away on a first-come-first-come basis beginning at 7:30 a.m. Saturday.

National Park Service officials said Wednesday that children of all ages may attend as long as there is at least one child 7 years old or younger, and no more than two adults per group.

First lady Laura Bush's office issued a statement saying all families are welcome to attend.

My guess is that there's far more drama in just this thread than there will be at the WH Easter egg roll, leis notwithstanding. Might I add, though, that the proper way to celebrate a pagan spring fertility rite is with transgender temple prostitutes leading the festivities. Ah yes, those were the days! :)

Nice of you to drop by. I got sucked into the Maelstrom. I hate when that happens. Temptation. :)

I think I have made my point of view rather cystal clear at this point.

I'm trying to clarify for you that your point is a) wrongheaded and b) overwrought.

If the Bush White House decides that there isn't going to be a political demonstration on the White House lawn at their expense, there isn't going to be one. They can handle it, and they needn't dash any kids' hopes unfairly and on-the-spot, producing the lugubrious video footage you seem to anticipate -- and the MSM, too, no doubt, and no doubt they are drooling at the potential:

GEORGE W. BUSH, CHILD HATER
FILM AT TEN

Yeah, they'd love that.

But if Bush decides that that isn't going to happen, his people can handle it without the video tears.

Labeling homosexuality as an "illness," with the intent to strip away rights of the "ill" that others enjoy, may not be deviant, but that agenda is one to which I dissent,.....

You are insistent that calling sexual deviancy an illness is political. It isn't; it's objective.

Homosexuality is objectively disordered, a kind of paraphilia. It just isn't natural, and is ergo disordered.

Gay activists mobbed the leadership of the American Psychiatric Association and the American Psychological Association in 1972 and 1973 and achieved a political success in having homosexuality removed from the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual, the standard reference of the mental health professions.

Just because they changed the text, doesn't mean they improved it. They obfuscated, they politicked, they lied. They bent the science, and they've placed guard-dog organizations stacked with their own hand-picked people to watch over and defend the definitions they debauched in 1973.

And you may not want homosexual people mistreated or their rights stripped away -- that's fine, nobody's talking about doing that, but it won't do to have them hanging around schools and Scouting and church groups, anywhere that boys gather in groups. These organizations have had persistent problems with homosexual men, and if you cater for the gays and make trouble for people who want to keep some sort of social hygienic structures in place to protect youth from adult sexual predators, then you are adding to the country's social problems.

Vague allusions to the White House's omnipotence will only get you so far in the real world. How do you imagine that they would handle it, short of having the men-in-black turn away the lei-wearers when they show up on the Ellipse?

Oh, Hildy, I see people are praying for you again; so is this a gay thread or a Terri thread?

:-)

The usual suspects got into fencing with each other, myself included. The whole thing is just noise. I just could not resist weighing in, given some of the extreme comments. I think I reduced the decibel level down a bit, but so what? Back to Iraq, illegal immigration, the budget deficit, and is or is not Romney unfit for the presidency because he is cultist Mormon, McCain because he is McCain, and Rudy because he showed up at a benefit ball in a dress, and Allen because he is about as articulate as Bush without the macho element. The public square these days is such a joy!

Is that the way the monologue goes?

No, it goes like this:

"Daddy, why does Timmy have two daddies?"

"We'll talk about that later, son. Now finish your tomato soup and your corn for your mommy."

The large majority of the signers of the Declaration of Independence and of the Constitution were Christians, many of whom were lay elders, deacons, or vestrymen in their local congregations. A large number of them were Calvinists. Granted, Jefferson and Franklin were not orthodox Christians, but their political thought was heavily influenced by their Puritan predecessors, such as Samuel Rutherford, and by political philosophers like John Locke, whose theories, while secularized, drew from covenantal theology.

American legal theory is rooted in English common law, which in turn was at least partially derived from Biblical sources. The original intent of the First Amendment was to prohibit the establishment of a national church, like the Church of England. It was not to divorce Biblical principles from informing legislation. The "wall of separation" between church and state is a 20th Century phenomenon, promoted by liberal justices, particularly in the era of Earl Warren.

Apparently anyone who prays, thinks it cruel and wrong to starve people to death because they are helpless, or doesn't want a childrens' party turned into a "gay rights" demonstration.

If you mean, am I taking this thread seriously, then the answer is a definite no. If you mean, does this thread represent what even 5% of Americans are obsessing about tonight, the answer is a virtually definite no. If you mean, will this amount to much more than a one-line mention on the evening news, if that, the answer is a highly probable no. That being said, if the Secret Service starts tackling kids with leis on the White House Lawn, as some here would seem to want, this might become a bit more memorable..

Excellent comments. Somewhere I have some quotes from Blackwell stating that law is founded in Biblical law, and without that foundation there is no foundation.
