It is that simple.
Exactly.. hold it; while I rearrange my definition of winning.. THERE... I agree.. Winning these days also takes a new look at loosing.. Must reconfigure that one too.. DONE..
NOW I'm ready for political WAR, or whatever its called now..
You are right. We have lost. Over the last 20 or so years the problem has spiraled out of control. It (illegal immigration) is far beyond anything the government can or will handle no matter who is in power.
If there are bigger issues, which I doubt, this issue is part of those bigger issues.
Really? Like what? The problem with Republicans is we are always moving our line in the sand backwards as there are always "bigger battles ahead".
California may be lost, but I refuse to concede the rest of the US.
Go puke your pablum on the other side of the border.
Ah...another vanity from Pukin Dog that has wormed its way into "News/Activism." Seriously, PD, you have proved to wrong twice - on both the Harriet Miers and the DPW issues. Why don't you realize that your crystal ball is broken and save us your bizarre forecasts?
I want to be right. If an amnesty goes through I will never again give a dime to a GOP candidate.
I want both, and it not as simple as you state. Better read this before you go off on another RANT - - We Don't Need 'Guest Workers'
It's a market wage, and saying Americans won't do work for a market wage is insulting to illegals and Americans. Our modern, technological economy depends primarily on innovation, investment, and knowledge, not low skilled, uneducated invaders from the South.
jobs that Americans wont do for the prevailing wage.
Thanks, Pukin Dog. You are, of course, 100% right on this. There is no will out there among the American public to round up illegal Mexican immigrants. It seems to me that President Bush has again charted the best course on this policy.
And I'll say something else. It's one thing to be critical of the President's views. It's entirely another to engage in the kinds of brutal attacks on him that I've seen on FR today. It's as if these people imagine that Hillary Clinton will have a stonger anti-illegal policy than President Bush.
And one more thing. I think some people here just don't like Mexicans.
When you do the victory circle... I'll be the guy pissing in the stands.
" Only after a migrant worker program passes, making most of these illegal aliens legal, is there any chance at all to have meaningful border enforcement."
Reagan already tried that, and guess what we have a bigger problem. I guess Mexico will be part of the USA since both parties are too weak to stop this invasion. I have no problem with "LEGAL" immigration. Its the "ILLEAGALS" I have issues with. They believe the law does not apply to them.
Well are we a Nation of laws, or do we let Mobs rule the day?
Maybe there is some hope sanity will prevail.
The drug violence has spilled over the border, the illegals are flowing in like a tsunami. Time for the wall, force, and backup....NOW!
I want to be right. There is no point to winning if it's done for loss of principles.
Hi PD, you raise some good points, but I'm not ready to lay down before the La Raza bulldozer quite yet. Given the size and nature of the protests this last week, I think pushing the House Bill aggressively will only inspire these folks to more vocal and outrageous protests. Let's push them, and see if we can provoke a backlash against their outrageousness among a majority of the electorate.
Best example I can think of is the most recent Senate election in Colorado. The Republicans had Bob Schaffer, a true conservative, and their best candidate. The Democrats had Mike Miles, a former Army Ranger Captain, and their best candidate.
But all of a sudden, the Republicans said, 'Hey - Let's run Pete Coors instead! He has the best chance to win!'; And the Democrats said, 'Hey - Let's run Ken Salazar instead! He has the best chance to win!'
Both were poor candidates, and the people who wanted to win won, and the people who are right lost.
