It is that simple.

Pukin', you're 180 degrees off. Immigration is THE issue that the 2008 winner will take---border enforcement. Whoever grabs that issue and runs with it (Tancredo is just too small potatoes---I mean, whichever major figure) wins. It's that simple. So, yes, we can be right and win.

If there is any type of guest worker amnesty whatsoever the gop will lose big in November.
This issue is a win for them if they follow the rule of law and side with the 80% of Americans who want our immigration laws enforced and our borders closed and secured.
Anything other than securing the border and taking steps to rid ourselves of the illegal menace would be political suicide.

If what you say is true, it's not just us freepers that are screwed, the Republican party will reap the whirlwind in the fall no matter what they do. The country is on the wrong track and there's nothing like a little gridlock to slow the train down. Frankly, if Bush didn't do anything wrong he doesn't need to worry about impeachment, now does he?

Personally, I think the minimum wage law and other regulation are the culprits.
It's mostly small businesses who hire the illegals. Faced with not surviving in business due to onerous garbage laws, they hire Mexicans who are eager for the work.
If the regulation was erased and American low-wage workers couldn't demand all the goodies, American business could hire American workers and Mexicans wouldn't be so attractive.
Getting rid of Minimum wage laws and such is the answer IMO and that's not going to happen anytime soon.

Wrong. THIS IS THE ISSUE - the survival of an American nation and culture. If Bush wins (and I don't doubt he will) we all lose.
In any case, I'd rather be right than President.

I don't have any regard or respect for anyone who ignores the law. That goes for you, the illegals, and King George.
Take it back to Mexico where you illegals belong.
Have a nice walk back to Mexico!

Illegals should be sent packing - take away the benefits and enforce the rule of law. Whos country is this anyway?

Whether you like it or not, much of the commerce of this country does depend on these folks to do jobs that Americans wont do for the prevailing wage. Why do you suppose the "prevailing wage" has dropped so low for those jobs? Business owners' desire for cheap, illegal labor should be answered with harsh penalties for hiring illegals.
