How would you feel if, in the aftermath of 9/11, the U.S. government had decided to contract out airport security to the United Arab Emirates (UAE), the country where most of the operational planning and financing of the attacks occurred? My guess is you, like most Americans, would think it a lunatic idea, one that could clear the way for still more terror in this country. You probably would want to know who on earth approved such a plan -- and be determined to prevent it from happening.

I'm still waiting for ONE PERSON who is against this program to list ONE ACCURATE FACT about this program.

Fact: DPW is owned and operated by the government of UAE. It is not merely a UAE-domiciled corporation with private ownership.

Still pissed off that Bush isn't in the habit of hiring one-toothed, one-digit IQ goobers like you for the really important jobs?

Thanks for proving that all you Bush-Bot defenders cannot think and rationalize for yourselves, but need the word of your "Great Leader" to function.

See, it is the right and DUTY of each and every citizen to question authority, and to make ourselves known when the screw up!

People like you just open another pack of Kool-Aid.

You are drawing an utterly false comparison. News Corporation is a publicly traded company. DPW is owned by the UAE government.

That being said...I am concerned and pissed that Wahhabists are buying the news. I have no loyalty or love for Murdoch...I just hope that I never find out that FOX is slanting stories pro-Islamazi beyond the French "Yoots" bit...THAT pi$$ed me off royally!

Thanks for the kudos.

But don't expect the "Cult of Bush" acolytes here to even BEGIN to research/understand!

They aren't programmed for it!

Maritime security is an integral part of IMO's responsibilities. A comprehensive security regime for international shipping entered into force on 1 July 2004. The mandatory security measures, adopted in December 2002, include a number of amendments to the 1974 Safety of Life at Sea Convention (SOLAS), the most far-reaching of which enshrines the new International Ship and Port Facility Security Code (ISPS Code), which contains detailed security-related requirements for Governments, port authorities and shipping companies in a mandatory section (Part A), together with a series of guidelines about how to meet these requirements in a second, non-mandatory section (Part B).

HOLY CRAP!!!!! From the link you provided...the last LINK!

The new requirements form the international framework through which Governments, ships and port facilities can co-operate to detect and deter acts, which threaten security in the maritime transport sector. In order to determine what security measures are appropriate, Governments must assess the threat and evaluate the risk of a potential unlawful act. The ISPS Code provides a standardized, consistent framework for managing risk and permitting the meaningful exchange and evaluation of information between Contracting Governments, companies, port facilities, and ships. The requirements also include provisions, which establish the right of a State to impose control and compliance measures on ships in or intending to visit its ports. It also provides for Contracting Governments to take further action when relevant requirements are not met or when there are other clear grounds for taking such action. In addition, where a risk of attack has been identified, the coastal State concerned shall advise the ships concerned of the current security level; of any security measures that should be put in place by the ships concerned to protect themselves from attack; and of the security measures that the coastal State has decided to put in place.

So the damn DP World WILL be involved in Security aspects, and have access to the Gub'Mint SOP's and plans of Action for possible Threats...INCLUDING TERRORIST!!!! DP World will not just be some shell or piggybank as some here accuse!

Stop This BUSH Madness!

*PING!*

This is for all who are interested in the DP World fiasco...

Sweetjustusnow posted here an interesting link...http://www.imo.org/Newsroom/mainframe.asp?topic_id=551.

If you go to the site, the last link down the main column is called New Security Measures for the International Shipping Community. Article by Mr. H. Hesse and Mr. N. Charalambous, published in WMU Journal of Marine Affairs, 2004, Vol 3, No 2, pp 123 - 138 Information Resources on maritime. This is a pdf. file.

There is a VERY interesting paragraph..for all who think that DP World will have no say in Port Secutity or Other DHS ops...

The new requirements form the international framework through which Governments, ships and port facilities can co-operate to detect and deter acts, which threaten security in the maritime transport sector. In order to determine what security measures are appropriate, Governments must assess the threat and evaluate the risk of a potential unlawful act. IOW, the damn DP World WILL be involved in Security aspects, and have access to the Gub'Mint SOP's and plans of Action for possible Threats...INCLUDING TERRORIST!!!! DP World will not just be some shell or piggybank as some here accuse!

Just an FYI....with a BIG nod to Sweetjustusnow for an AWESOME find!

Pete King stated on Hannity that DHS would have to tell DP all their protocols and operating procedures but I had no hard link to prove it and was shouted down.
