WASHINGTON (CNS) -- The president of the U.S. bishops blasted a recent episode of the cable television comedy "South Park" that he said showed Mary in "a tasteless and ugly fashion."
In a Dec. 14 letter to Tom Freston, co-president and chief operating officer of Viacom International, parent company of Comedy Central, the cable channel that shows "South Park," Bishop William S. Skylstad of Spokane, Wash., said the channel showed "extreme insensitivity" in choosing to show the episode.
The episode, which first was shown Dec. 7 and had repeat showings in the week following, was titled "Bloody Mary." During the episode, a "South Park" character claims to have been sprayed with blood from a bodily orifice of a Virgin Mary statue.
When Pope Benedict XVI investigates in the show, he declares that she was merely menstruating. The episode's premiere date came the day before the feast of the Immaculate Conception, a holy day of obligation for Catholics.
Everyone on FR dislikes a personal attack. Generally it is pretty low people that resort to that in a thread.
The whole premise of the show is that nothing is sacred. That said, the show is a piece of crap aimed at disaffected halfwits of the type that are prone to say, "Howard Stern says what I only think."

There's a difference between the first, which is discussing whether the show is offensive, and the second, which is calling names.
So I've noticed. I never realized imbeciles were so thin-skinned.

You really don't get it, do you? You havn't said a single intelligent, reasoned thing on this thread (and you've said a lot). You just name-call. Yet your point is that SP fans are imbeciles. It's almost like a parody. Most of the "fans" who have responded have attempted to engage in reasoned dialogue, answering specific criticisms, etc. Yet your only response is to just keep calling us imbeciles, with no logic or reason. It would be funny if it wasn't so sad.

But no one was offended by the use of the word imbecile. You folks made that up to prove . . . something. The comments being made about the use of the word "imbecile" were of the variety of "I can't believe that someone who would criticize the intellect and morality of others would do it simply by name-calling."
