PHILADELPHIA, Nov. 21 (UPI) -- An 18-year-old single father whose struggle raising his toddler daughter was featured in People magazine has been killed in Philadelphia.

Terrell Pough was shot in the head on his way home from work Thursday night and later died at Temple University Hospital, the Philadelphia Inquirer reported.

Police said they have no suspects but do have a possible lead. No further details of the slaying were released.

The August issue of People profiled Pough, who worked as the night manger at a local restaurant while attending school full-time and raising his daughter, Diamond, who will be 2 on Nov. 27.

"She's what I work for, what I live for, why I wake up," he told People. "She's everything."

Diamond, who had full-custody of his daughter, had planned to work in construction after graduating next June.

"If something ever happens to me, no one can ever tell her that her dad didn't take care of her," he told People.

I suggest you wait until we hear what the police have to say....might change your mind a little bit.

Prayers for the little girl...may she find a loving, two-parent home to be raised in.

Please don't lie about what I have said.
I did not lie about what you said.

Let us wait for all the facts to come out.
More facts are not needed.

My prayers are with this little girl. I hope she finds a loving, stable, two-parent home to be raised in.
For both of you I hope she never has to read your comments on the posting of her fathers death.

I hope someone is willing to judge and tell her that certain things are wrong and certain things are right.
Telling someone right from wrong is not passing judgment. If you wish to tell people right from wrong then you should be prepared for others to tell you what they consider right from wrong. I suggest that the announcement of this young mans death is not the appropriate place to discuss his failings as a man or a parent.

she's one of the very first people on FR that condemened Harriet Miers, claiming that there was something "wrong" with a person who isn't married and they therefore shouldn't be allowed to serve; that was in the same post where she insinuated she was more than likely a lesbian.

THAT IS A BALD FACED LIE...FIND WHERE I SAID ANYTHING LIKE THAT ABOUT HARRIET MIERS. YOU CAN'T. I NEVER SAID THAT. QUIT LYING LIKE YOU DO ALL THE TIME, HOWLIN. IT IS A BALD-FACED LIE, BACK IT UP, IF YOU CAN, I WILL WAIT. I KNEW IT WOULDN'T BE LONG BEFORE YOU SHOWED UP....STALKING ME AS USUAL.

I can't help it if you have your own demons to deal with.

That's right. A lot of the killings in the Rap "music" (I use the term in its loosest possible sense) industry have to do with eliminating (literally) the competition and just plain old jealousy.
Same kind of attitude is found in "the hood." One of his "homeys" could have seen his picture on the cover of that rag and figured if he himself could not make the cover of People the next best thing would be to "ice" the one who did. What you propose is very likely.

In a perfect world, yes. But at least he was trying to do the right thing by taking the best care of her that he knew how. And where is mom? Bet she was out somewhere conceiving again. Give the guy a break. I admire his love for his daughter. I'll be praying for her.

"Did you miss the newsletter"

More importantly, did you miss the point?

Perhaps you should do the same. I have more faith in the human race than defaulting to guilt until the story proves otherwise simply because of the area he was in (or his race...if thats your reason too).

Yeah, none of them have ever made a mistake and then owned up to it like a man and did the right thing.

I would rather see a story about a flawed mortal like this young MAN working to better himself despite his circumstances, than read a story about a self righteous prig who drips condemnation from every pore.

Some are unable to make themselves feel tall unless they are tearing down the accomplishemetns of others.

I pity them.

What if we find out that he was still involved in nefarious activities even while putting on a front for doing the right thing?

OTOH, he could have been trying out GET OUT of illegal activity.

Your pity is wasted on the likes of them; they need others to be immoral in their eyes.

They seem to delight in the tragedy of others.
