Exclusive: US Representative Tom Tancredo in Response to U.S. Nuke Threat: We Could Nuke Mecca 15 July 2005: He is a no-nonsense House Representative from Colorado, a staunch critic of the federal government's lax immigration and border enforcement policies, and one who recognizes the clear and present threat posed by Islamic terrorists inside the United States. In an exclusive interview today with Pat Campbell, host of AM 540 WFLA said yesterday he would request a briefing from the Justice Department on information it has on plans revealed by WND this week for a nuclear attack on the U.S. by al-Qaeda. Responding to a question by Mr. Campbell about our possible response to such a threat, Representative Tancredo said that there are things that could be done to pre-empt a threat, and in response to an attack as well. One response would be to take out one of their holy cities with a nuclear bomb if it was clearly proven Islamic terrorists were behind such an attack. That doesn't take much.....if the founding fathers were reincarnated, the republican party would appear to be socialist lite compared to those great men. Granted there are some good conservatives, like Tom Delay, George Allen, etc but they are few and far between. Watch for Kris Kobach, he lost in his first race, Kansas 3rd congressional district, but he will hold office one day and he is as conservative as they come.

Tancredo is as nuts as Michael Savage. Both have their devoted followers who actually think the actions they recommend would be helpful, and little can be said to change their opinions.
How do we do this and not harm Israel? If we take out Mecca with a nuke where will the wind blow the fallout?
In addition, killing millions of innocent people brings us down to the level of the terrorists - we will become what we have beheld.
A massive conventional response may be more appropriate.

People like crying "nuke 'em!" from the comfort of their den, but clearly do not appreciate the ramifications inherent. Nuclear war is the worst possible scenario - for all sides. If we have no choice, we have no choice. But it's not like the Battle of Britain where everyone cleans up and rebuilds at the end of the war.
But forget about us. Once the nuclear divide is breached - once the unthinkable comes to pass - there would certainly be a perceived impetus for Pakistan to nuke India and N. Korea to nuke S. Korea and Iran to nuke Israel.
Instead of calling us "moderates" or "leftists", they should consider what would happen in real life, not a Tom Clancy novel.
