Tone what down, Mr. Bush? Who are you talking to?
To conservatives?
I think he is.
And I think Laura Ingraham, thinks he is, too.
And, proud of God Knows What, he slighted the conservatives who are suppose to sit around and watch their hair turn white as year after year after year after year betrayal, and now having given so much to put the Republicans and the Bush family BACK in power, who believed the oath Bush gave to church leaders, to conservative leaders, in back door meetings, when lots of money exchanged hands, and money from common people hard earned, and who told the common people all over this nation that he will fight to put a conservative on the bench, and now this from Mr. Peepers he tells us to tone it down? Laura Ingraham told Bush tonight, no YOU Bush, you tone it down. Dont hush us. You hush. You listen. The House, The Senate, The White House, years and years in the making, and now its all yours, conservatives who ground down for you, and when it is time, you tell us to tone it down? Squander another 20 years?
Oh, I see. Really. Well, maybe you tone it down Mr. President, or perhaps as some are now calling you Mr. Peepers. Or should I be more respectful?
You tone it down when you talk to conservatives about this vital issue, this nomination to the Court. You better listen. If you told us a lie, you are going to really see who can make hell regarding Bush Lied, and it wont be coming from the Left who are going to make you eat your own words.
You come to the conservatives, to the heroes, to the Patriots, willingly this time. That is more than just good advice, it's real good advice. Respect your family? You respect our families, and everything they have done for you. Your friends? Your loyalties? Who has been your friend, and gave you loyalty? You now need to respect our families, our loyalties. But if you will not approach my friends, my conservatives, with affection, of your own free will, you can take your family and your loyalty to your friends (in power) and you can sit and ride a dead horse right to where you are going, Mr. President.
Dont you tell me about how the illegal aliens do the work, the work that Americans wont do. Dont you tell me what I would do or not do to support my family. How dare you. And you dont tell us to tone it down. How dare you, again. Not this time.
Ugly words? You havent even heard it yet.
BUSH TELLS CONSERVATIVES TO "SHUSH" DURING COURT FIGHT! In a slightly disturbing interview in USA TODAY, President Bush tells everyone to "tone down" the rhetoric. That's funny, that's what the Democrats are saying too. The President, in fact, needs conservatives to be mobilized, passionate, and strong in their supper tof his nominee--toning it down never helps the GOP. (see, e.g., the fights over Bolton, Estrada, and Bork.) Click here to read the USA TODAY interview.
Nothing about "Bush lied" or "illegal Aliens just reporting on a USA Today interview.
She did say no, you tone it down, Pres. Bush (those words may not be in exact order but I believe they're all there) on her morning show. Usually I agree with her, but this comes across as strident and more importantly without merit. What non-conservative judge has he nominated thus far? None that I can think of. Can anyone else think of one? Pryor is the only judge I wasn't happy with, but it's not because he's a non-conservative.
Laura is such an intelligent woman that it's a shame to see her resort to ignoring what Pres. Bush has been attempting in his judiciary duty since he's been in office.
Absolutely right on all counts.
Yeah, audio often reads that way. They say that if we read the transcripts of our phone converstaions we'd go insane...:-)
Love tells it like it is, loudly if neccessary. Laura is not fool me twice bimbo. "Tone it down" is a conversational terrorism tatic that paints the loyal longsuffering conservatives as the emotional immoderate and irrational extremists that must restrained for the sake of all important civility. It will be too late to cry out after we have been stabbed in the back yet again.
How do you define whining? To me it means complaining when one has no right to, or no reason to. And we have plenty of reason to complain about this issue. Plenty. If you don't think so, then you haven't been keeping up with the Gonazles controversy and what Bush and the White House have been saying about it.
All Bush is saying is lay off the damn personal attacks on his friend. He wouldn't be much of a man if he didn't. Rest easy, Gonzales is NOT going to be nominated.
Previously, the judge selection for SCOTUS were overseen by the ABA. That is no longer the case.
Listen to Mark Levin...he's great and knows far more than Laura does, about this topic.
What "issue"? Hell he just got 3 VERY conservative judges confirmed and has yet to send up anyone like O'Connor. What in the hell are you griping about?
Brian_Baldwin:
50 posts in the past 14 months and almost all vanities. Does not respond well, if at all to questions.
I'll put forward Gonzales as apparently the only social non-conservative so far. I admit I've only heard this and don't know the particulars, but the vast majority of the President's judicial nominees that I can recall are strict constructionists.
Are these her words? If you have any hair at all you will answer the question.
"What non-conservative judge has he nominated thus far?"
Well, gee, are you urging that we wait and see who he appoints to the Supreme Court before we start making noise about this? What if he did nominate Gonzales, which evidence suggests might well happen? Wouldn't it them be too late for us to make our views known?
In politics, "wait-and-see" can kill you. Conservatives have lost many battles by "waiting and seeing."
GO LAURA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
When did he rip into liberals when they were trashing his friend?
Actually, It does sound like the Laura I heard this morning. I turned her off because of it.
Personally I'm a bit ticked at the GOP in the Senate having the arrogance to suggest people be quiet, when it is their lack of leadership that is at fault for the distrust they can manage this battle without caving in. They have no right to ask for faith.
However, I think laura's off base about the President. His friend was being attacked far beyond what was acceptable. Liberals cannot be taken to account for the attacks on our nominees, while hypocrisy is practiced on our side. While not in their league, some of what was leveled at Gonzales is without justification. Argue on merits, do not personalize it.
Second, unlike the Senate, the president hasn't disappointed thus far on Judicial nominees. He has earned the benefit of the doubt.
"It will be too late to cry out when we have been stabbed in the back yet again."
Right you are, sir.
If this type of language is rhetoric from 'friends', I doubt he'll listen - and who could blame him? When people start a campaign to destroy the character of one of his cabinet members when there is no indication he'll be appointed, that lessens their credibility. It's doubtful these groups will have any pull with the President in the future with regard to policy or appointments due to their over-the-top tactics in this instance. Once again, the conservative movement's proponents are their own worst enemy.
When he had to. He stuck with Pryor and Owens when most politicians would have thrown them to the wolves. You have a VERY short and selective memory.
That did not answer my question. When did he say lay of my friend to Ted Kennedy and the gang?
