It was only about a 20 second film.

Blast! Something exciting happens down there and we don't get to see it.

I have read that statement several times, but I have also read statements to the contrary. That leaves us where?

I guess it leaves us with yet more contradictions and another avenue with too few FACTS.

Innocent until proven guilty is US law, but what is Aruban law? They can detain you without revealing details of what evidence they have. No jury trial, just judges. It looks as if rights we take for granted in the US don't exist on Aruba, or at least are expressed differently. In some countries, you have to prove your innocence. The burden is on the defendant.

Interesting that the HI has vacancies. Usually the truth is somewhere in the middle, unless you're dealing with evil. Then it's the worst you can imagine and then some.

They don't get every single piece, is what I'm saying. There would be some evidence, parts of a hand or foot or skull or bits of clothing they should be able to identify.

Dang, people.  It gets frustrating trying to catch up and then have to wade through all the bickering back & forth. Can I make a suggestion? If you don't like what someone says, just ignore it!  (Yes, that means you!)

Okay, you don't want to ignore it.  How about this? If your reply, like this one, is a continuation of or related to one of the 'b*tch sessions', why don't you  preface your reply with an identifying word or phrase?  (see above).  That way, I'll know immediately to skip that reply, as will everyone else who's trying to keep up.

If you aren't fond of the phrase I used above, there are many other words that would suffice.  I'll give a few examples.

< CARP >
< COMPLAIN >
< CRITICIZE >
< GROAN >
< GRUMBLE >
< HENPECK >
< MEOW!!  >
< MOAN >
< MOAN & GROAN >
< NAG >
< NITPICK >
< QUIBBLE >
< SNIVEL >
< SQUAWK >
< WHIMPER >
< WHINE >
< YAMMER >

Personally, I like "Carp" and "Moan."  There's nothing like a good 4-letter word to say how you feel.   :~D

I think they are the ones who need to do the soul searching to determine the dark underworld they are trying to protect.

That statement is an example of "positive projection"...an honest person projecting his/her morals on an island of sociopaths.

This island consists of criminals and those who are the enablers of criminals.

Evil always blames someone else...whereas honest people want to confess, to soul search and assume responsibility, and find out how to change and improve.

This island is evil. That is why it is so quick to blame the reporters (even the Twitty's) for the heat. They are incapable of soul searching. They are incapable of accepting guilt. I'll bet this behavior permeates every pore of the island (and they not even be aware of it...that would require soul searching and contrition).

I said she called them criminals and not murders.

No. You said BH did not call them 'criminals'. -------------------------------------------------------------------

To: over3Owithabrain

I just heard BHT call the two brothers suspects, not criminals and not murders.

Life must be a b**** living in
Aruba for the honorable people.

I'm sure there are honest ones,
we just haven't seen them.

Well, the guards seemed to be
quite honorable.

That's what's so frustrating in all this. Aruban LE don't leak details of what evidence they have. Not even the defendants are told what the cops know, and for a while, they don't have access to a lawyer.

If one of the Kalpoe bros. or both decided to tell the truth about what they know or saw, or heard from Joran, and gave statements to the cops, would that allow them to go free? Why would they get their passports back if presumably, they'd have to testify at some court proceeding against J?

Scenario B: Why couldn't Joran claim the bros. did it and though he tried to save N, he was overpowered. He could claim he lied because they threatened to kill him or say he'd done it. This is hard to swallow considering J's size and clear domination of the Kalpoe bros. His mom sniffed that they weren't J's 'real friends', but 'more on the fringe'. The Kalpoe's weren't really good enough for her son. (Colonial mentality -- People of color aren't 'our sort').

Shall we lock the thread and not permit anymore threads on the case unless new information and new theories are forth coming?

Have you been reading the DUmp lately? That seems to be their answer to all problems.

http://www.globalsecurity.org/military/facility/aruba.htm

Progress continues on US Southern Command’s Forward Operating Locations (FOLs) to replace counterdrug aerial detection and monitoring missions formerly flown by DoD and interagency aircraft from Howard Air Force Base in Panama. Since 01 May 1999 the US has staged air operations from Curacao and Aruba, and Manta, Ecuador. The total numbers of hours on station were equal to or greater than when the US flew from Howard. Aruba is a drug-money-laundering center and transit point for narcotics bound for the US and Europe; added to the US list of major drug producing or drug transit countries in December 1996.
This parched speck of an island off the coast of Venezuela has guaranteed sunshine and is blessed with beaches that make you say 'ahhh.' Tourism is the big business here and it's served in a flavorsome double scoop of beach bunnies from North America and Holland, and Latin coastal coasters, nearly all of them on circuit-breaker trips to pep up winter suntans, prop at the poolside bar and try their luck at the casinos. Although large-scale tourism dominates the island (read: luxury resorts from here to sunset), there are still undeveloped areas on the exposed northern coast and much of the interior is inhabited by nothing more substantial than goats and contorted divi-divi trees. In this region, the triple whammy of a dry climate, salt-loaded seaspray and relentless trade winds has created a wonderfully surreal landscape with more than a passing resemblance to the images Pathfinder sent back to earth from Mars.
Tourism is the mainstay of the Aruban economy, although offshore banking and oil refining and storage are also important. The rapid growth of the tourism sector over the last decade has resulted in a substantial expansion of other activities. Construction has boomed, with hotel capacity five times the 1985 level. In addition, the reopening of the country's oil refinery in 1993, a major source of employment and foreign exchange earnings, has further spurred growth. Aruba's small labor force and less than 1% unemployment rate have led to a large number of unfilled job vacancies, despite sharp rises in wage rates in recent years.

I have always viewed the brothers as unwitting accomplices. It seems pretty clear to me he was using them for rides about the island.

We may never get the true story, unfortunately, but I do wish the Kalpoes would talk as I think it would shed a lot of light on things and help piece together some of the bits we think we know about.

Wow, hard to imagine Geraldo walking away from hotheads without throwing a few punches, himself! But maybe he's trying to mend his 'image' as a serious journalist. Golly, he has an uphill battle.

I heard that, too. That anything on the east side floats back to shore, that Aruba is on a sort of plateau, with shallow waters around the island for some distance from shore.

Is anyone paying any attention to what is going on in Aruba at the present. Do you wonder why our media is not showing us this, it is being shown on a local television station in Aruba.
Anti-US Media Demonstration?

Telearuba is without doubt the best broadband television connection I have ever seen. It great.

The only reason I would suggest that the Holloways take a break back home for awhile is for their physical and mental health. Maybe a week's break.

Are we sure that Aruba would let them back in once they left? That's what I would be afraid of if I were in her shoes. But you're right. They DO need a break.
