Natalee was a nice girl, who took a ride with the wrong guy. Nothing more, nothing less to me.

I have been obsessed with this case from day one, and have run the gauntlet of suspecting various people of the crime.

Bottom line is that we'll just have to wait for more information to sort this out properly. Someone took her or she is dead. I suspect she died with Joran, but can't prove it..darn it.

Be back later. Be kind to each other..people. I'm begging you..

It's almost impossible to rent a car on Aruba..there's only a very limted supply..the government strictly limits the number of rent-a-cars on the island..why don't they bring in more....supposedly it's for safety, so a bunch of drunk tourists don't kill everyone..the real rewason..one of the best jobs on the island is taxi driver..they have a huge lobby...no rent a cars means you need a cab to go anywheres..so..

Can you imagine what a mess it would be to get around on that small island if there were unlimited cars on the roads? There are 14 car rental agencies and 8 scooter & motorcycle rental agencies.

From what I've read, Natalee's best friends were not on this trip. This was a very large class trip and I think that's different. The other problem is that we've heard differing stories. So it's hard to tell what to believe.

Or perhaps he said "no body, no crime" because Natalee had been shipped elsewhere. I remain intrigued that the father, relatively sophisticated in things legal, very early on decided that his son's best defense was to stonewall, a strategy that would put the son into a hole if the body ever turned up by making it difficult to then put forward any of a number of innocent, or at least relatively less culpable, explanations for the death. I find it difficult to believe that that the father had time to be involved in corpse disposal, or that he would have been that convinced that his son had done so effectively.

Way back on RWV, SM or thread 1,2,3,or 4 did not someone post that there had been a shoving match between Joran and some of the Mountain Brook boys? Please correct me if I'm wrong.

The shoving match was between Natalee's cousin and Joran.

First, they encourage scooters...happily..because 99% of those who rent them..take a cab at night when they go out to dinner..NOW..IIRC..some of the rent-a car places only have 10 or so cars..and at any tme..you may have 20,000+ tourists on the island..figure that's a 5000+ plus market for rent a cars..and you have maybe 250 available..you do the math...

The father's involvement intersts me too. I have not discounted that Natalee could have been shipped elsewhere. But I think Daddy VDS is a primary key to solving this crime.

But why people on this thread take personal offense to the notion the boys might be innocent is beyond my comprehension. I don't take offense when they tar and feather the boys beyond their reasonable doubt. Go figure..

In an American court both boys would be GUILTY of perjury and obstruction of justice.

Indeed, Natalee told more than one in the group she was going back to the HI.

Yes, but that proves my point..it what you say is true..it means the girls weren't the innocent goody two shoes they're being depicted as. I'm not indicting, even criticizing them for it..but absent a body, you have to also profile the victim to understand what might have happened to them..

Good points all..let me take just one of them..as described..these were her fairly close friends..that's why they chose to room together..therefore, logic assumes they knew of her plans to possibly NOT come home until late that night..give them a pass on that one..but when they wake up, and no Natalie...and they don't do anything..just shower, dress,a nmd leave the room..and go to the airport without her..don't call anyone..that just doesn't ring true..NO WAY that happens..unless it's either a pattern of behavior, or a pre-arranged plan..and in ewoither case, it goes to her mindset, and understanding her mind can help figure out what might have happened..

It was said earlier that Natalee didn't always stay in her room at night. She liked so many that she would go from room to room and stay with different people.

I pointed out that this may be indicative of being roomed up with people that she may NOT have wanted to 'room' with. When our students went to Europe, you didn't get to choose who was in your room, the rooms were merely booked. Kind of a luck of the draw.

The problem with this arrangement though is that with no one knowing for sure where or with whom Natalee was spending the night, none of the students became concerned. I had posted earlier that courtesy (good manners) would have been to at least let the people in the room to which you are assigned, know where you are going to be that night, that way, no one worries and she gets accounted for. fwiw

Try as we might, we can't force our justice system down their throats.

A polygraph would have been a great tool as well, but it's not acceptable there. See?

Where was that "said" --- verifyably stated?

Besides, on the last night with her suitcase packed and her ID and money in her room, THAT doesn;t wash.

It makes good sense. I wonder if they all had rented cell phones from the hotel? Might not make a difference tho.

Another angle to the girls not knowing that Natalee wasn't in her room, could be because her room mates weren't where they were supposed to be either :).. Whole lot of partying going on in Aruba..

I see how it might be confusing, even trying to follow the forum postings backwards.

Hopefully posts 1902 and 1905 will clarify what I really mean.
