They have been questioned by a lot of people, many of whom disagreed with them. If they were not questioned in court, it's becaue your boy Greer would not allow it. That way, people supporting his position could make vapid arguments like this.

I have no issue that he had moved on.. the parents are family and they wanted to care for her. Judge Greer put all of his eggs into the MS living will basket and would not relent.

Hubby had a conflict of interest and should not have been her guardian.

And if he had nothing to hide, and was not going to be responsible for her care- he would have moved on like the parents asked him to do.

But that doesn't change the fact that the 'sanctity of marriage' as used by the judge was one sided.

If we err, it MUST be on the side of life. It MUST be.

"I've only seen hate-filled language from the death to Terri crowd."

You have GOT to be kidding. I sure wish I was fast enough on a computer to haul up all the words written on the Terri threads but it'd take me a month of Sundays to post every nasty thing said by Terri's "supporters". I use that term loosely because I'm not so sure that what they offered to that poor woman was "support". I saw more emotionally charged rants than I care to remember.

I nor anyone else on this Thread knows how Terri got in her initial state...
---

Then you need to read or listen to the medical examiner, for he does know what caused her condition. It was an illness called bulimia.

when all I did was point out the fact that the medical examiner basically ruled out every cause of death that had been speculated at.

So you're admitting that he ruled out Michael causing her collapse?

Parents of adults are not the primary decision makers... they did argue it in court, and the court had to take a side. The court decided, legally, that the spouse has the right to make these calls.

Most families would not end up this divided, most would not push in the face of this much opposition, but this one did. There will always be a cases where the court acts and one side ends up unhappy. But the courts should still honor law. And they did here.

The autopsy report can be found at www.blogsforterri.com
concerning the potassium levels I found the following abstract concerning potassium levels in truama of interest.
http://www.shockjournal.com/pt/re/shock/fulltext.00024382-200208000-00002.htm;jsessionid=CwntZPFo8E6TSJMjEcqc4mjzwrf3kcRjzj1U2lGDfEWfln2lElEn!-1675635649!-949856031!9001!-1
I am going to speculate that Terri's suffered an adult version of shaken baby syndrome.

"I have a feeling some on this thread would be delighted to have Michael as a son-in-law.....disgusting."

They sure sound as if they would; however, I don't think they want this horrible death by dehrdration for their own daughter. These selfish types don't care about anybody else's daugther, just their own.

I take it by your response, that you know more about the case then the medical examiner.

So, if their guardian decided that the best thing for them would be to end their life by shooting them in the head, that would be OK too?

And you all wonder why nobody takes anything you say with any credence?

At least make an ATTEMPT to keep in touch with the truth or reality.

You didn't answer my questions. And while we're throwing around belittling comments, let me toss it right back. Do you wonder why no one takes anything YOU say with any credence?

The reality of the situation is that Terri died because at the request of Terri's "guardian" Judge Greer, in his written court order, prohibited all hydration and nutrition until dead. If you don't believe me, go read the court order. If you don't have a link, I'll get it for you.

This is no different than if Judge Greer, at the request of Terri's "guardian", ordered that she be deprived of oxygen until dead and therefore a plastic bag was placed over her head and she suffocated.

It is no different than if Judge Greer, at the request of Terri's "guardian", ordered that she be administered one 9mm 115 gr. full metal jacket bullet to the base of her skull until dead.

The method of death doesn't matter. The fact is that she was executed by court order. Somehow, you and many others have found the dehydration/starvation method acceptable in her case. Why not the suffocation or even the bullet? In this case they're probably just as "legal" as any other method. What's the difference? She is still dead at the hands of her so-called guardian and the judge and you're still here defending it.

to the declaration that a spouse would want to be dehydrated to death.

He never said anything close to that.

And we simply do not KNOW what she wanted; and in cases like that, the State of Florida gives that decision to the guardian.

Terri's mother tried to take care of her daughter years and years before. It lasted for less than 2 weeks and they found it overwhelming.

There is nothing to indicate that now, years older, she would be more able to handle the stress.

And since the Schindlers testified under oath they would keep Terri alive whether she wanted it or not, I think the judge and others involved in this matter found that VERY disturbing.

How lame.
NOT w/out a prescription, can you even buy syringes!!

In Florida, insulin and insulin syringes can both be purchased over the counter without a prescription.

That does not answer the question of why Judge Greer refused to investigate the living will, like our elected reps asked him to do.

I thought you wanted the family to decide....

If that is your idea of an "excellent post", then apparently your standards are extremely low.

Life as defined by whom? By courts? I would much prefer my husband, even if he has moved on, to make those decisions, not a judge.

I wish I thought that also. I am beginning to think some of them would have no problem just sticking someone, even their own flesh and blood, in a corner until they died of whatever. I am sure if some of them seen my Grandma (who has alzheimers), they would want me to starve her to death. It is disgusting!
